Mags must be a sensible choice. If he can withstand the rigours of a 4 day match, he should certainly be capable of bowling 10 overs in a day. Not the greatest fielder, but it's not the hurly burly of T20.

The club site says Machan has a wrist injury and Mags included to boost the bowling options. Not sure what more you can expect. Thart line has been added to the original less informative post!

Glamorgan won the toss and will bat. Finch in for Machan, Magoffin in for Beer - not at the request of fraudster but specifically engineered to wind him up to dangerous pressures.

Beer was our best bowler on Monday, very surprised he's been left out.

Having said that the wicket looks green so perhaps more seamer friendly?

Bm,
it rather implies that Sussex aren't very interested in the Royal London Cup. Perhaps that's one of the reasons we're not any good at it...
A sad indictment considering that only a few years ago Sussex were viewed as the best OD county around. While others have improved and developed their OD skills, Sussex seemingly have stagnated.
For, while we reached a home T20 QF last year that was primarily down to Luke Wright's miraculous batting exploits. That away game to Gloucestershire being a prime example.

Why is Beer always the guy to be dropped? He bowled well on Tuesday minus the last over! He was getting praise from the sky commentary team! That tale is far to big also! Shazhad at 7 I would have thought it would be Jordan at 7, then Shahzad, Briggs, Garton, Magoffin and this is quite close to Glamorgan's choice of Wagg, Meschede, Salter, Cosker and Hogan in make up, possibly because the wicket is reported to be looking a bit green.

Not that close in lower-order batting achievement- at 7, Wagg scored a f/c double century last year ,while I don't think Jordan has ever reached three figures in any comp in his career. At 8, Meschede had two f/c centuries last year and Shahzad didn't make a fifty. No problem with four seamers and only one spinner, if it's a green wicket. But Briggs rather than Beer is a bizarre selection given the superiority of Beer's bowling in the last match... It's hard not to get the impression that quiet-polite-nice-unassuming-never-says-boo-to-a-goose Will is everybody's whipping boy in the Sussex dressing room. Wouldn't be surprised to learn that all our batsmen make themselves feel better every time they get out by giving him a ritual kicking!

Poor Ian Bell. After Lumb and Wessels put on an opening stand of 342 two days ago v Northants, on winning the toss this afternoon he thought, "well the odds on them doing that again are a million to one, so I'll put them in..."
Currently 177-0 at the half-way point. Jeetan Patel disappearing for eight or nine an over, they've had to bring Trott on as their seventh bowler and another total of 400 plus is in the offing!
