Joyce out, Taylor out, here comes Wright who we need to play a captains innings. Don't exaggerate. 150 from him will be fine.

This is painful to follow. Already RR is 7.7 an over. We need a miracle from Wright and Brown. Come on Sussex - play without fear!

We actually got to 100 in less overs than Glamorgan but we've lost 2 more wickets.

Anyone got some pins spare, so I can stick 'em in my eyes? It would be less painful than following this game.

Catches dropped at crucial times, top 4 batsmen failing. This is very very poor.

Feeble effort apart from Wright.
Sussex just aren't v good at 50 overs and are officially the worst side in the country in this format.
13 matches since they last won a game 22 months ago ...second bottom in 2014, bottom in 2015 and after tonight's debacle, probably bottom or second to bottom in the 2016 table. Horrible.

Horrible. #robbo'srichlegacy Yep, just checked the table - bottom by an absolute mile on a quite appalling net run rate. Very talented players not delivering. Why is that? Is anybody at board level even asking the hard questions and delivering a few rockets up their under-performing backsides? The time for a "total clear-out" was last winter, stonewall. But Jim May bottled it and opted for a bunch of timid internal promotions and a joke appointment of a part-time batting coach - and allowed the departing Robinson to sack Zaidi, who can bat at six in a white ball side, and replace him with Briggs, who is one of life's number elevens. Luke Wright is a top man with great leadership potential. But he can't change the club's cosy, losing mentality on his own. He needs a bit of help from somewhere else, both on and off the field.

No point banging on about Robbo's rich legacy now Borderman, you say yourself "very talented players" so it weren't left in that bad a state, according to you. I do remember the old board, at least they had responses. Not all positive to my views granted but we were more of a winning team then, Robinson had done little wrong frankly and they were loyal with good reason. Despite that, 90% of my time on there was in quite deep discussion - mainly because I didn't go away I imagine. I find people on here less willing to engage actually.
Anyway, as usual, our 'on paper' side is much better than our actual side and we're still making baffling decisions on selection and balance. In a way it's worse than ever because it hasn't changed, despite apparently being identified. Still, if you people can't even recognise how ridiculously stupid it is to include Mags now (now being the key) then you won't see much.
As for the Beer thing, Wright and Davis are purely playing Briggs ahead of him because he was a signing. Sound familiar? We rarely identify problems it seems but when we do, we do buggar all about it anyway. Tip: Play Wiese instead of Taylor - that would be a sign of identifying a problem and progressively trying to fix it, in RLC and CC frankly. It will never happen and nobody on here will even think it should, but it should.
Peace out suckers.

It's the morning after and the disappointment has faded. A couple of points. During an interview with Mark Davis back in December he highlighted two major points from his future vision. 1. Playing without fear 2. Improving the club's fielding. Sadly, neither of which happened last night. As Bm points out, Sussex have not won a 50 over game for 13 matches. How deep does this malaise go? The club's approach to the RLC Powerplays this season have been, quite frankly, embarrassing. unofficialsussexccc.freeforums.net/post/14936/threadSurely, in such situations, the only way to break out from this trough is to do what England did after their World Cup 50 over debacle. Attack! It was a resounding success for England; led to the phrase 'New Cricket'; and due to an unexpected side-effect even reached the Finals of the T20 World Cup. Question: Why don't Sussex emulate England. What have they got to lose?
