Sussex 4th with 8 points, Kent 8th with 4. A win would be nice.

Kent have been woeful in the T20 this season, losing five of their last six and losing most of them badly so they have become one of only three teams with a negative NRR - and I think I'm right in saying no side has ever qualifed for the quarter-finals with a negative NRR?
It's surprising because I expected them to make the quarter-finals with ease and hopefully go all the way to finals day, but their bowling has let them down time and time again. After Coles and Tredwell, there is no back-up and the likes of Griffiths, Cowdrey, Thomas, Claydon, Hunn and - unless the ball is swinging - Stevens have proved to be cannon fodder. However Northeast tries to rotate them, they all go out of the park. I think they have conceded more runs than any other side in the Blast. I saw them in the T20 at Beckenham v Glos and was shocked at how sloppily they played.
But the cavalry is at hand - they should have Rabada for this match (unless he does a Fizz), which will make a substantial difference.
However, they might be missing Coles who has been declared "unavailable" without explanation for the last couple of matches.Watch this space : he's not a happy bunny and may soon be on the market. With Magoffin coming to the end of his career, could he be the man to lead the Sussex attack? An opening pair of Coles and Shahzad would certainly have plenty of fire and aggression...

Must win game for us in my opinion so the last few games and confidence doesn't become an issue. Group is starting to tighten up and after no win in three (partly due to the rain) we need to get the points to avoid scrapping for 3rd/4th. Id give Cachopa a shot in this match as WK instead of Brown especially after his mistimed scoop yesterday and lack of ball handling as of late.

If Cachopa is the answer,we must surely be asking the wrong question...

If Cachopa is the answer,we must surely be asking the wrong question... But he has been perilously close to selection. His decline in form is matched only by those of Chris Liddle and Murray Goodwin.

To be fair, Cachopa's form over the last six innings, has been better than any of the other candidates, Machan, Salt, or Finch, so Finch's century today was most welcome

Would he fit in with the Sussex family ethos, BM? I recall you commenting on his immature behaviour on more than one occasion in the past.

I think Luke Wright would know how to manage him and there would be a mutual respect there. Rob Key always knew how to handle him when he was captain and never had any problem with him. And if the Sussex family ethos could accommodate Murray Goodwin's extra-curricular interests, there shouldn't be any problem with Coles!

Yes re Coles, we were previously happy to take a punt on players who hadn't looked as if they'd fit the "Sussex ethos" profile, think Robbo Junior, even Mushy wasn't an obvious fit

My deep throat says his contract is being terminated and he's heading for a Kexit. Out on his Lord 'Arris, you might say...

What is it with Kent and rubbing players up the wrong way?
