This is great news for the Club and supporters. Obviously, any hopes and ideas Jofra had of playing in the IPL have been quashed by the ECB and rightly so. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/51780969

The Daily Mail attempts to stir the pot in today's paper, but there is nothing to stir. Archer would be mad to go against the ECBs wishes at this early stage of his International career.

That's typical of the Daily Mail's use of ignorant sensationalism. As you know, WC, not all journalists should be taken at face value.

There could still be a sting in the tail although highly unlikely. Imagine the pressure the Rajasthan Royals are placing on Jofra Archer right now.
They paid £800,000 for him (for 3 years) in 2018 and since Archer has become an integral part of their team. In 21 matches, he has picked up 26 wickets at an economy rate of 7.52. Recent news suggests the Royals only became aware of the ECBs decision less than 5 days ago and are desperatley seeking a replacement. Jofra is also very popular with the fans and is a major commercial asset for the franchise.
So, how does this all work? Do the Royals gain financial compensation from the ECB if Archer is proven to be fit before the IPL begins and what happens to Archer's integrity in India? The fans won't be happy if Archer is fully fit and taking wickets for Sussex as the IPL plays out.

OUCH! Not surprised this video has surfaced, but it does nothing for the cause except gain a few extra contentious PVs for the recipient and make him look and taste like a bitter and twisted Kiwi xenophobe.

He's got magic wands instead of fingers, no wonder he's a good bowler. His girlfriend is a very lucky lady.

The mind boggles! In true THE GREAT ESCAPE spirit, perhaps, he broke out from the team's bio-secure prison to visit his girlfriend? England have a rebel on their hands. Welcome back Stuart Broad. I'm not sure why they are resting Anderson when the test match is at his home ground Old Trafford.

As expected the Daily Mail are ahead of the rottweiler pack. It seems my logical guess was correct. The Mail writes: " Sportsmail understands that Archer drove home to Hove in East Sussex while en route from Southampton to Manchester between the two Test matches. The journey from the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, where England's players lived in a 'bio-secure bubble' during the first Test, to Hove is about 60 miles, meaning Archer's detour was 120 miles in total if he followed the same route back before heading up to Manchester. It is believed the players were permitted to leave the Ageas Bowl at a time of their choosing and drive themselves up to Manchester." And now the silly part given his girlfriend (why else would Jofra drive to Hove) is part of Archer's close and allowed 'community'. "Archer will now have to commence five days of isolation and will undergo two COVID-19 tests in that period which will have to be negative if he is to have any chance of playing in next week's third Test." Archer's grovelling apology reads. "I am extremely sorry for what I have done. I have put not only myself but the whole team and management in danger. I fully accept the consequences of my actions and I want to sincerely apologise to everyone in the bio-secure bubble." In danger of what? We live in an increasingly insane world. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-8528981/Jofra-Archer-excluded-England-squad-breach-teams-bio-secure-protocols.html

Further research suggests this tweet sums up the bio-secure breakout. To resolve a domestic issue, perhaps? I hope she is worth it.

Totally stupid and irresponsible behaviour from Jofra after all the hard work from ECB creating a bio secure environment. He could have put the whole test match in jeopardy.

This from ESPNCricinfo today: According to ESPNs Alexis Nunes, a close personal friend of the player, Archer stopped off at his flat for approximately an hour, and avoided any close personal contact while he was there. While conceding that he was "very frustrated" with the situation, Nunes added that Archer had not made any excuses for his actions. "Home is his safe place," she added, "which is why he didn't think it was that much of a risk."
www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/29472275/jofra-archer-dropped-england-breach-bio-security-protocolsIf true, this media storm, as usual, is a mountain out of a molehill... but Archer did break the rules, unfortunately, and needs to be punished. I am sure every England player would like to 'pop home' for an hour. It is amazing how a quick stop off at home can be such an expensive exercise. "The ripple effect it could have had could have cost us (ECB) tens of millions of pounds," said Ashley Giles.
