Jofra continues to spread his wings around the cricketing globe and is now joining the BBL after signing for the Hobart Hurricanes. He joins Sussex team-mate Tymal Mills and former club O/S George Bailey. My one concern is that with our best players now regularly fraternising with the franchises, they'll return in the Spring exhausted and injured. At least, there is another BBL side to follow alongside the 'Melbourne Stars'. Luke Wright TwitterCongrats Jof. Great signing by @hurricanesbbl. Hope you go well just not too well against the @starsbbl.www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/news-jofra-adds-big-bash-to-winter-itinerary

I share your concern, Wicked Cricket, about weary, worn out or even injured players when April arrives, but it’s part of life in 2017.

This lad is turning out to be the find of the century. A double wicket maiden on his Big Bash debut?! Phenomenal bowling which put Tymal Mills firmly in his shadow.
I don’t think we have to worry about him going anywhere, he seems to be committed to Sussex but we may find that he’s not around at the beginning of the season because he’ll be off to the IPL.

Another impressive performance from Jofra in The Big Bash. His four overs went for just 15 runs whilst taking 3 wickets. He bowled the final over which cost 5 runs (a wicket to Jofra and a run out). Tymal Mills chipped in with one of the other three wickets to fall as Hobart Hurricanes won by 7 runs.

Just having a look through the fixtures and matching them with the IPL dates. It looks as if Jofra and potentially Jordan will miss the first 5 county championship games, which includes trips to Edgbaston and Canterbury plus a home game with Middlesex. They'll also miss at least the first three one-day cup games, plus another two if their franchise reaches the finals.
A shame, but the silver lining is it provides a good chance for the likes of Garton, Whittingham and possibly Sakande a decent run in the side.

The Jofra Archer story continues as he is snapped for £800,000 by Rajasthan Royals to take part in this year's IPL. He will have Steve Smith, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler as team mates. What an experience for him. Sadly for Sussex, it means that we will not be seeing Jofra until well into the County Championship programme.

Archer and Jordan have been snapped up for £800,000 and £110,000 respectively. Tymal Mills was unsold. How many county championship matches are Archer and Jordan going to miss?

Just seen this Tweet about Archer:
Simon Wilde @swildecricket 4m4 minutes ago More Big issue may be looming for Jofra Archer, Sussex and England. If he is picked up in PSL replacement draft tomorrow, he could spend so much time outside UK this winter (BPL, Big Bash, PSL, IPL) that he fails to meet 210 days a year residential requirement to qualify for England

I make it 5 County Championship games - over a third of the season. The IPL ends on 14 May for the teams that don't make the finals and 19 May for the finalists. Sussex have games in the 50 over competition starting on 17 May with games thick and fast after that. Without some recruits, a lot is going to fall on the shoulders of the youngsters in the early part of the season.

I have every confidence in Garton, Robinson, Sakande, Whittingham and Wiese being able to fill the void left by Archer and Jordan.
