Durham appear to have released there fixtures already! Unfortunately we are playing them twice which isn't great given they will be one of the stronger first class counties in DIv 2!
at home in early May and away in September!

Can't see it online timbo1988 but that is always a problem: is the embargo truly respected or is the unpaid intern in the marketing office just a bit itchy-fingered? Seems to have been wiped out for now but hanks for the spot.

They have taken it down now (probably under instruction from the ECB) they also made the comment that those fixtures were incorrect, this I doubt and it certainly looked like the 2017 fixture list to me!

So, the early games are on the website. Kent home and Notts away will give an indication of our hopes in the County Championship before April is done. Unless, of course, they are washouts.

Just 15 hours of cricket at Hove between 9th July and 25th August. Yep. Without breaking the embargo from what I can see only Essex, Kent and Derbyshire get to host any red ball cricket during this period. Kent at Hove in the opening four dayer is a cracking prospect, though...

Of course, we shouldn't be playing Kent at all. They're supposed to be in Div One, don't you know. Apparently we ought to be playing Hampshire. Does anybody know whatever happened to the legal challenge the Kent chairman promised to mount, btw?

Just for a little light relief, click
for Surrey's Twitter gif of their T20 fixtures - then sit on the couch and answer some simple questions about how much you recall. They really have a way with a colour palette, don't they?

Kent on Good Friday - Easter Monday that's two days I can't see because of work. Worcester in August looks number 1 option for Barrow's trip. Kent at Tunbridge Wells is also well timed for Sussex fans. Unless I see the first two days against Kent I won't see any Championship cricket until 21st May. Then there is Arundel and a day night. So that's only four home championship games I will probably see.

Colwyn Bay for August Bank Holiday looks attractive.

It is in the nature of these things to disappoint, and with a reduction to 7 home championship matches, this was always going to disappoint more than it pleased. Here are two filtered extracts. The first is the championship games only, both Home and Away ![](https://s21.postimg.cc/3k0g5v9sn/2017_Championship_only_Hand_A.png) The good points for me are that we no longer have that ridiculously early start edging backwards into March. There is no guarantee of better weather but the further towards the Spring the likelier it is that the ground will be a little warmer, the grass will be growing well enough to be cut properly without damage to the roots, and there may be a chance of getting away with only a sweater and a warm coat. Then the pattern of the first 5 games suggests on form that we will know our likely fate by the beginning of June, assuming that Kent, Notts, Durham and Worcester all play to potential. The second Kent game and the Worcestershire home game will be quite critical, as they will clash with the South African one-day internationals and the start of the ICC CHampion's Trophy, so availability of key players will play a big part. Inevitably the lack of first class cricket at Hove through July and August will be a big loss to many, and Leicestershire at Arundel is only going to be attractive to a few diehards, especially if the weather is as atrocious as happened last year.Let's hope too that we have another fine Spetember for the run-in. Derbyshire in mid-month could be a nice set-up for the final two games away to Durham, and then finally at home to Notts in what might be a championship or promotion decider.
Next extract is all home games, all opposition, all competitons. This is what you get for your money, assuming there is a Premium membership this year that covers all forms of the game:
![](https://s11.postimg.cc/inj2xj8mb/2017_All_Homes.png) For those with omnivorous tastes I have to say that is pretty reasonable, expecially given the massive overegging of the Test programme in late Summer, which ought not to be repeated. There is a spread of games up to that point, and the possibility of more if Sussex qualify for the later rounds of the one-day competitions. Not very many floodlit games and even a couple of Sundays.
