.... his record this season from 16 innings is 387 runs at just under 30 with a top score of 83. Two weeks later, SVZ finshes the season with three consecutive centuries and a very decent average of 48. Let's hope he doesn't start the English season as slowly!

Yes, a very good recovery but let's wish him the gift of consistency for his time over here.

I like his first comment: "It's a bit cold..."

I like his first comment: "It's a bit cold..." You don't have to be South African to say that about cricket in England in April

Congratulations to Stiaan Van Zyl for scoring his career best 228 for Cape Cobras. Let's hope his form keeps going in 2018.

Has anyone heard anything about Stiaan's injury? I feel that, as things stand, our batting might let us down at a vital time in our quest for promotion from Division Two. Whilst the lower order is strong, you need front line batsmen when it's tough. Is he out for the season?

Well we always have our get out of jail card still sitting there We could always take up our overseas option Yeah I know, Dizzy has said we don’t need one, but he changed his re one for the Blast didn’t he

"Sussex have not revealed the length of Van Zyl's contract extension."
And if you find out you will be assassinated.
He's got a good average for us. He's senior but not old. Guess he better stay, until what is it, October?

Presumably to make it more difficult for other counties to make timely approaches.

Though importantly, his agent will surely know Also, having been left out of the current one day squad, presumably because he isn’t up to the workload, might it not have been more prudent to wait a while. He’s a good player, but if there are still concerns about his fitness, then why the rush?
