We bowled OK but couldn't shift van den Bergh who scored a solid 96 not out. Oxley was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets but Rawlins also stopped Surrey running away. Our fielding was ordinary. Salt tried to reverse sweep twice, the first time he survived, the second time he didn't. No one looked comfortable facing 7 wicket Virdi. 'Spin will win the day' someone told me as I arrived. You were right, Sir. 209 was far too many. 91 was our limp reply.

Virdi seems to be the scourge of our seconds, didn't we collapse against him the other week as well

Popped down to Polo Farm in Canterbury. Nice ground which is being developed into a great set up for cricket(as well as Hockey in the winter) Brand new nets and also an indoor net centre. Spent time chatting to Phil Salt, Abi Sakande and Gus Robson. Nice bunch of lads. Saw Sussex trying to get near to Kent's first innings of 392. sadly. did not see Abi rout our team in 2nd innings. Still a lot to do for Sussex if they are going to win this one. Hope it all goes well at Eastbourne on Sunday. Have tickets gone on general admission or have Sussex members filled the ground?
