I thought both were pulled out of the seconds match with Oxfordshire with some form of injury?

Haven't heard anything regarding injuries to Sakande or Garton. Nor me, but I think we're not alone in succumbing to the trend for more and more physical training that looks great as an academic proposition but hopelessly ineffective for the peculiar business of playing cricket. I think there's certainly an argument for being ' match fit ' but do agree that there seems to be a disproportionate emphasis on fitness training these days. You only have to look at Northants to see that you can have success without being prime athletes.

Not much faith in Rawlins to bring him on after Nash. Not to bowl Kent out with all the wealth of resources available, injuries included, is pretty poor of the team as a whole, taking captaincy, selection and training/fitness as the single engineroom that the club's PR would have us believe. In practice these may all be warring entities and mutually exclusive. What is the role of the Director of Cricket in all this?

It's really the same old same old, repeating all the same mistakes, in recruitment, team selection and not coming up with a game plan

Thought Wiese was a goner when he crashed into the boards just before tea but he seems... ok. Massive test on Sussex's batting for late tonight and tomorrow. Talk about testing the club's vulnerability first off in the season. Should think Kent will leave us with 400+ and then maybe declare with 30 minutes to go tonight.

Very sad. This match may be over before tea. Van Zyl another mare. Who's going to stand up?
63-3.

83 for 6. The DI has a fifer.
Humiliating defeat on the cards.

Less than 200 runs for the first six wickets across the two innings. That's pretty poor.

Mark Davis and his signings look awful. The coach is out of his depth and his recruitment of batsmen frankly looks embarrassing . one match into the season and we look so so brittle . No backbone and collapse like dominoes. Morale is already low . Who does the background work on these players ? Van Zyl on a three year contract ? We are steadily going backwards with this coach who displays the ability to recruit over the hill injury prone free loaders .
This season already looks a campaign of despair like last year . Dear oh dear oh dear ......

After the rudderless ending of last season I REALLY hoped for better this one. Much moving around of deckchairs in the winter but the iceberg remains embedded. I can't see the coach lasting the season. Honest shame should have seen his resignation at the end of last year, and Luke's a nice chap but no captain to pull together a disparate dressing room. I never thought I'd say it, but what is Chris Adams doing next week?
