Back to proper cricket tomorrow and our fight to win promotion. My guess at a team: Nash Wells van Zyl Finch Wright ( Evans if not fit ) Brown Wiese Jordan Archer Robinson Briggs I spoke to Luke at the Surrey game. He is planning to return for the T20 game at Lords next week, so we are going to look a bit thin in the batting department.

I'm also glad to be able to contribute again. T20 is vitally important for the spread of the game and for cash-generation but as I don't enjoy watching it I don't usual comment on the highs and lows of the matches, although naturally I would be very pleased if Sussex could sustain a winning run and then transfer it to the first-class game. The squad is confirmed www.sussexcricket.co.uk/news-1/preview-sussex-head-to-worcester-for-red-ball-interlude as Ben Brown (captain) Chris Jordan Will Beer Danny Briggs George Garton Jofra Archer Harry Finch Angus Robson David Wiese Stiaan van Zyl Chris Nash Laurie Evans Stuart Whittingham Ollie Robinson Luke Wells Like Joe I'd be pleased to see Ollie Robinson back in the side and hope his injury problems are behind him. Through the dour and anguished times of the last two seasons his have been some of the strongest fighting performances, both batting and his developing off-spin bowling and I think that now we have Archer in full flight and Jordan, plus the young fast bowlers, he could fill a vital place. The place I see him taking is the one usually filled by Wiese who has only occasionally hinted at his former International status this year as a bowler. It's also good to see that Robson is in the squad and I hope that he is given his chance - and takes it. My team would be Robson Nash Wells Van Zyl Finch Brown Jordan Robinson Archer Briggs Garton

I would replace Garton with Whittingham.

I would replace Garton with Whittingham. I don't think either will play as I don't think Davis will drop Wiese, and Robinson would be the first pick of the others if he's fit.

You need to bowl sides out twice to win. Whittingham is the wicket-taker of the 4 mentioned.

Does Robson need to be offered a two year contract if he is to play? Hope negotiations don't take too long.

Just a reminder of where we are and the other matches taking place in this tiny window of first-class fixtures. Derby are at home to Notts, Northants home to Glos and Leics are home to Durham. The weather forecast for Worcester is pretty awful: cloudy and overcast today and solid rain for the remaining three days. Five points for the draw seems favourite and any bonus points we can accrue. It looks unlikely that Sussex will advance beyond 5th place from this round, and will have to go for maximum points in all the 5 games starting with the Colwyn Bay visit to Glamorgan at the end of the month to have any chance of promotion. 40 bonus points from the 8 games so far is too few for genuine promotion candidates - 20 less than Notts, 15 less than Worcs.

Don't forget the promise of last summer of 18 wickets in 6 matches before the infamous "groundsman's injury".

Yes, I think a draw the most likely outcome from this game. Bat first and get as many runs on the board as possible to ecru as many bonus points as we can before the rain comes. The good news is that all the 2nd div games are likely to be affected by the weather too.

As I said, he's showing a lot of promise as are Sakande, Garton and Rawlins. They are the future of the club and they all need first team exposure to continue to develope. I haven't said I didn't want him to play, I'd be delighted if he did but I don't think he'd be picked above Robinson if he's fit.
