Now what? Academy Director's job advertised on website. What has happened to Richard Halsall? Why no announcement? It shouldn't be the responsibility of Prior to announce his departure. Sussex management are not doing themselves any favours with their silence. Something smells.

I think it was his choice due to his other coaching commitments but you are right no announcement and just a job advert is pretty sh1t

Shocking way to treat a top-rated coach, whose loss will be deeply felt. It's as if the management don't care what the membership think and aren't even interested in explaining themselves. For all the positives around some of the emerging young players, the club management's inability to retain key personnel - both experienced players and now coaching staff - is frankly appalling. You're right that it shouldn't fall to Matt Prior to make members aware of the management shenanigans....but better that he does it than nobody does, regardless of how much Bob Warren may dismiss his comments as "disappointing". There's a growing number of members who are somewhat more than "disappointed" in the Warren/Andrew/Greenfield stewardship of this once great club of ours. My own feeling is that they're living on borrowed time.

I think people are looking for outrage when outrage isnt there. Hopefully the next Pathway Manager can dedicate all their time to Sussex. I'd think Sarah Taylor would be a great candidate myself

Hardly a full time appointment, but great for him.

"...wanting to leave to spend more time with his family"? Pur-leez! A little confused on your stance here, you demand excellence and strong management but are outraged by the loss of Halsall who was hardly ever in his role?

When Richard Halsall joined Sussex it was a bit of a coup for Andrew and Co. He was probably over qualified to be an Academy Director. Because of his CV he has always been in demand from other teams (PSL, 100, T20 world cup). In terms of the Academy/pathway he did introduce a new mind set. How far this has been adopted by the ECB and other Counties, which knows? For Sussex he did inherit a wave of talented youth. Sussex U15 did win the national title, when Clarke, Crocombe, Carter, Orr,Atkins, Hindley and Sarro were around. In addition, he has had Lenham, Ibrahim and Coles in the ranks. So what has happened to him? My best guess is that he has had a conflict of interest with his Academy Director role and his other higher profile opportunities. Good luck to him for the future. But why,oh why, are Sussex so secretive about his departure??

So Halsall was the pathway guy, not Greenfield? So Halsall has lead this youth through?
Also, above is a good insight into why we have a good batch coming through from Sponge - how did the U15s do this year?

What is his contribution to the club? EDIT: This is not a rhetorical question - please help me out!
