I’d expect Carson to sign a new deal soon now Salisbury is gone. It’s absolutely ridiculous that someone didn’t step in and resolve the issues right away between Carson and Salisbury. As a professional Salisbury had absolutely no right to treat Carson as he did because of the break down of Carson and his daughters relationship. Magik, that's interesting and I totally agree with you. This doesn't reflect well on Kirtley and Greenfield. Surely they must have been aware that something unpleasant was going on. So much for looking after the youngsters. Very poor. till something is done to get Greenfield away from the first team we will act like minor counties club with results to follow. |

Salisbury’s departure reflects badly on Kirtley & Greenfield.
They all knew Ian’s personal situation about his wife passing away and was almost certainly over protective of his daughter and only child, which is understandable.
Someone from the club should have stepped in and helped both sides.
Perhaps this is a reason why Kirtley has gone?
Disadvantage of not having a senior pro like Brown around.

Exactly what you would expect Sussex to say. If Kirtley does apply for the job then he shouldn't get it. Maybe the new head coach will decide if Kirtley should stay on as bowling coach. He shouldn't get that as the evidence shows he has not done a lot with the bowling unit. That's a fact. The success of Currie and Karvelas was luck more than judgement. |

For me it woul be Finn and Hunt. Crocombe is fortunate. He has traded off having potential for a while now. Yet still looks like a cannon fodder bowler. Neither fast enough nor canny enough to take wickets or be economical. Hunt is similar (but worse) although he is under contract so we are stuck with him. Atkins must have done something wrong to be cut out of the picture. At one point the development of his genuine pace was coming on nicely. I hope we persevere with Garton. He reminds me of Chris Jordan before se signed him from Surrey. It would be a shame if another county benefit should he overcome his problems. Finn has been a waste of time and money. |

Atkins has had his fair share of injuries but seems to be hitting his stride now if only in the 2nd XI. I hope he’s given a chance later in the season after we lose Shipley and McAndrew.

Atkins, Finn, Garton and Hunt are all contracted until 2024.

Not sure why Atkins hasn’t played, 2 first class 5fers in 11 innings!? Something must be up? One of our promising young quicks gone backwards under Kirtley. |

Noticed no Atkins in pre season photos and his player profile has been taken off the sussex website, another potential outgoing? Has struggled last two years but once a promising seamer.

He looked the business…. for about a fortnight, three years ago.
I reckon he was the “rockstar” Ollie Robinson referred to in an interview a while back.
