Good. Should be promoting three a year rather than signing old expensive cheats, for example.
So are Performance Director & Director of Cricket the same thing or is this bum Greenfield getting paid two salaries?

Great news. The rebuilding has started.
They look a good crop, may take a couple of years of patience before we see results but it’s a good start.

CC for next year Salt van Zyl Head Haines Clark Brown Rawlins Garton Jordan Robinson Carson I travel a distance to watch my county and like the look of that team, as you say patience may be required, but it is a nice mix of raw talent and experience that would encourage me to make the six hour plus return trip Sussex needs to invest in these players and Crocombe, Coles, Hooper etc ... not unwanted makeweights like Clayton, Meaker and Thomason wasting our already tight budget

Will people have that patience though? They didn’t this year judging by the reaction to our results.

Very true - I think Clark is our only back-up isn’t he, subject to whether or not Bopara plays any red ball.

Very true - I think Clark is our only back-up isn’t he, subject to whether or not Bopara plays any red ball. Indeed he would be, which we know, will not be enough over a whole championship season. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but if our peers are now Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Durham, all of them are much better equipped, numbers wise at least, than us, when it comes to batting. Using the 5 batsman and a keeper yardstick, we have 7, or 8 if Bopara aims to play red ball cricket. Most of those others can muster 11 or 12 batting options, which puts us at a disadvantage. Do we not have the batting equivalents of Atkins, Carson and Crocombe coming through? We needed to recruit at least one senior batsman, and promote a few of the youngsters to bring the squad up to scratch.

Yes I’d been wondering the same about young batsmen to promote, just to give us some back-up....and ideally yes, bring someone in from outside.
