Unfortunately those in charge of the club fall way short of the required standard.

Div 1 player at a Div 1 club. Like Brown. Brought up on it when we were there, many many moons ago.
Very pleased for Wells.

Not only was it a brain dead decision but the way he was treated in that last season he was with the club made me ashamed to be a Sussex fan. Absolutely appalling from everyone involved in that decision.

I too felt ashamed to be a Sussex member because of the way Luke Wells was treated. He wasn’t given even one opportunity to play during what turned out to be his final season. Disgraceful. And justified by saying that “his stats weren’t very good”. Well, the stats of the senior management and the coaches are looking pretty abject over the past two seasons, but I doubt any of them will be snapped up by a Div 1 county when they leave Sussex, hopefully within the next three or four months.

I agree that Wells was treated badly. However, his average from the previous five first-class games for Lancashire this season was around 10. He always did seem to score big now and again. Would we want him now? I know I'd prefer Haines, Orr and Pujara as the top three.

Didn't it all come down to money and management of budget. Sussex aren't great at managing the human side of this. That seems to be a common theme with all of the big named leavers. However, what confuses me is the money that is being thrown at the T20 mercenaries. Stop this. Give the young pros, who are going to take Sussex back to the top in ALL formats, small pay rises now. It's a no brainer.

Or strengthen the four-day side as well.

A format he was never selected for Sussex I see Lancashire are top of table

Sorry to return to a pet topic of mine, but it turns out that Luke Wells IS a white ball player after all. He led Lancs to victory over Yorkshire yesterday with 88 off 67 and 2-25. Still can't believe the way he was treated by Sussex in 2020. Truly shameful. How we could have done with him this season - in all formats! Wonderful that Lancs have backed him to the hilt, and he is repaying their faith in him.

Div 1 player. Couldn't handle the 75mph nibbly nobblers on div 2 greentops. Great move for him so don't fret too much E is E. Anyone got any veras?
