Good news indeed. After finishing the season as top English run scorer in both divisions I’m sure other counties would have been waiting in the wings. Future captain?

While some might suggest Luke is playing in Division 2, he did score the second most number of runs last season of either Division and from 12 matches and not the full 14.
One hopes Sussex are able to return to Division 1 where Wells can then prove himself as a top batsman more fully. His contract extension until 2019 is very welcome.

Luke Wells looks to be struggling at the moment. He scored fifty after fifty pre-season but missed out again today at Arundel. Hopefully he can get some scores in the 2nds while the T20 takes place because we need him in form.

Maybe yes, and I’m pleased he’s got himself a gig. Still gnaws at me that we let him go, especially as we’ve not yet replaced him, or Finch for that matter. We have no depth to our squad, batting wise

We have no depth to our squad, batting wise I'll put a shilling on Wells getting a ton when he comes back to Hove next year to play in the 2021 red ball competition.

Delighted for Luke Wells. He required a new challenge and vista and I am sure this will reinvigorate his career. I hold the view that Sussex did the right thing in not renewing Wells contract. He had become stale at Hove, imho, and wasn't developing as a player. Lancashire gives him that opportunity and is a great club to move to. Now we hope Harry Finch finds a new county, although that may not be so easy for him. www.theargus.co.uk/sport/18869159.luke-wells-signs-lancashire/?ref=eb

Finch is eyeing a teaching career and taking on either an English or psychology degree. www.thecricketer.com/Topics/countycricket/left_limbo_county_cricketers_winter_discontent.htmlIt's a shame the Sussex hierarchy aren't so astute when it comes to cricket matters as Lancashire. "Luke's record in first-class cricket speaks for itself," said Paul Allot, Lancashire's director of cricket. "He is a skilled batsman who values his wicket and has the ability to bat long periods of time. The opportunity to sign a player of his quality does not come around every day and was one we could not pass up on."

175* for Luke Wells. Rob Andrew has a lot to answer for!

The former chairman said his stats weren’t good enough to keep him. They seem pretty good at Lancs. He’s just single handedly won his team a CC match in a 4th innings chase. How we miss that kind of experience in the final innings of a red ball game.
