Farbrace telling Orr there was no money for a pay rise is hard to believe. There’s the Wright and Finn savings for starters. It was another way of saying “sling your hook, son”. It is exasperating that the club was so ready to lose such a talented cricketer. Ah well. I don't think the club wanted him to go. Paul Farbrace didn't want him to go but they couldn't agree

Paul Farbrace didn't want him to go but they couldn't agree Farbrace said he could have an extension but not on improved terms. Given his profile has profile risen a lot since he last signed a contract, that’s not a very tempting offer. Farbrace also said he couldn’t offer improved terms because of money. That is very hard to believe. To me, it’s boss speak for “we are not fussed about keeping you “.

I agree with yikemardy. Read between the lines. Farbrace and Orr didn't get on, so the coach saw a chance to release the youngster with the blame solely placed on the agent along with the opener's desire for more money. Farbrace leaves the ongoing fracas with head held high. I cannot believe the club could not find the extra money required to keep Orr. If Farbrace really wanted him to stay, the money would have been found, surely? Yet, the more I think about the financial situation at Sussex, the more I wonder whether there really is something going on behind the scenes that is being kept hidden, alluded to by Wells, Prior and others. lab1 has talked of money difficulties surrounding the new apartment block. Could that be it? When you look at other non-TMG counties, finances seem fine, where there hasn't been this highly destructive salary cut leading to an exodus of top players. The Middlesex problem appears to be individual fraud and therefore a one-off. Most clubs lose money and heavily rely on the ECB handout to remain solvent. Therefore, managing debt is an integral part of running a successful cricket county. Is that where the problem lies? Andrew lacked the ability to achieve this and therefore chose the other extreme? Look at these links:- www.leicestershireccc.co.uk/news/leicestershire-ccc-break-five-million-yearly-turnover-for-first-timewww.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/113163/debt-free-essex-strive-to-remain-a-solvent-business-alastair-cook-ravi-bopara-simon-harmer-cricbuzzcomwww.eastmidlandsbusinesslink.co.uk/mag/finance/county-cricket-club-sheds-debt-burden-two-years-early/There has to be something going on that we don't know about. I only wish Prior, Wells and others would tell supporters.

Maybe our resident finance expert can answer the following. Andrew had told his world and his wife we are debt free after slashing the wage bill which preceeded the exodus of lots of players. I understand we have sold all the flats and are getting income from the pub. Garton Finn and Rawlins have left so saving their wages as well as Chris Wright who changed his mind. Taking all that into account, plus the ECB annual hand out and club sponsorship, are we really expected to be believe that such a well run club, stop laughing at the back, couldn't afford to increase Orr's salary? It's just not tenable especially as we have just signed an overseas batsman today. If you believe that you will believe anything.

This has been debated and discussed all day on here, why you see the need to constantly try to abuse me on here I don't know. Like I say it's cool you don't like me the constant unnecessary abuse isn't needed.

How is my last post abusing you? You are very touchy arnt you. That was a complement saying you are an expert on finance. I obviously don't know the answer otherwise I wouldn't ask. Am sure others would like to know too.

No we won't and no it wasn't Ah you are one of the fans that only support the team when they're winning. Move along you aren't needed, go down the road with Orr and Brown you'll enjoy it more there. How have you come to that conclusion you gimp? Been to the toilet bowl many a time and I'd rather croak it than make that trip again. I'm realistic as to where we're heading with this management and not blinded by the delusional words from J*n F***y and your wet dream Greenfield.

Alan Wells Response to my Facebook comment! Are we thinking Carter?
Andy Beal that’s a shame. Ali averages 40 in red ball, 47 in the white ball comp and strikes at 160 in T20 - opening the batting in all at the age of 22. He was injured for most of last year and in my opinion did well to average 24 in that environment. If you listened to post match interviews with the Head Coach you’d understand how difficult it must be for youngsters to thrive - if you understand cricket at all. As a former player and captain of the club I care what’s happening. It’s not my place to say why Ali has left but I can tell you it wasn’t money. He certainly hasn’t been guaranteed a 100 contract. If you have the read the Telegraph today there are enough clues in that for you to understand why he left. Tensions and fall outs with the coach are rarely if ever caused by the player. I believe there will be another big name departure announced shortly - again nothing to do with money

Still waiting for a reply to my post? Maybe your not an expert on finance after all. And you have the nerve to slag people off who don't answer your questions. Pot kettle black and hypocrite come to mind. Still arguing about Wells. Give it a rest the bloke knows Orr far better than you or anyone on here. If he says Orr didn't leave for money that's good enough for me. Your like a dog with a bone.

Great to have some good discussions, but can I remind all to remain civil and not resort to name calling.

I can think of a few candidates but I’d rather not speculate in public.
