Sussex have six changes to the squad for their final county championship group stage game at Canterbury. sussexcricket.co.uk/news/six-changes-squad-final-championship-group-gamePersonally I would leave out Head and Meaker as I don't think we are going to gain anything playing them in a dead rubber. Time for Brown to step up and fill the number four spot. My starting XI Haines Orr Ward Brown c, wk Carter Coles Ibrahim Robinson Carson Hunt Atkins

No van Zyl? He’s not been great this year but certainly better than Head who’s been an unmitigated disaster.

He is the best experienced bat in the Club and needs to form more partnerships with the younger lads. Letting Carter keep will help Brown with this. Would be a brave move to leave out Head.

He is the best experienced bat in the Club and needs to form more partnerships with the younger lads. Letting Carter keep will help Brown with this. Would be a brave move to leave out Head. I don't really see any benefit to playing Head (or Meaker) in a dead rubber. Head has scored 300 less runs (122 runs @ 13.55) than Van Zyl has scored 422 runs @ 24.82. Head and Meaker (9 wickets @ 58.33) should have been dropped too. Pleased to see Coles and Ward being given a chance. stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=13821;team=1422;type=tournamentA top six of Haines, Orr, Ward, Brown, Carter and Coles and a bowling attack of Robinson, Hunt, Atkins, Carson and Ibrahim is the strongest available eleven.

So Kent have a totally new squad for this game including Harry Finch, after a positive COVID test on one of their 1stXI.
Kent win the toss and bowl.
Sussex
Orr Haines Head Carter (wkt) Coles Ibrahim Robertson (c) Carson Atkins Hunt Ward
Ben Brown out of the squad as a covid precaution.
A very young inexperienced team but exactly the right thing to do now that we have no chance of advancing into tier 2.

A brave, but in my opinion correct decision to drop Van Zyl. I suspect he may have played his last red ball game for Sussex. Possibly, his last game full stop, depending on whether we continue with our youth policy and which of the overseas options we deploy in the Royal London Cup.
Never thought they would drop Head, even before Brown's unavailability. Really looking forward to seeing how this promising group of youngsters gets on against a weakened Kent side.
Solid start, Orr really unlucky, out to an excellent catch. Haines, loose shot. Surely, Head is not going to get a better opportunity to play himself back into form.
Good to see Harry Finch getting an opportunity. Hope he does well, but not well enough to prevent a Sussex win.

Has Travis Head got an identical twin? Have we got the wrong one? Whatever way, he needs to go back home sooner rather than later. No point in persevering. All of our youngsters can do better.

Why are Swift and Wright still on the payroll? They are clearly useless batting coaches!

Kent fan in peace here! I thought we did to get you all out for 181. However, was afraid that our batting line up might struggle. Atkins has serious pace and was really impressive. Am impressed with some of your youngsters: Ibrahim, Atkins, Crocombe and Lenham to name but 4. Hopefully if they come good, the future will be bright for Sussex. Am hoping that our youngsters will come good as well. Cox & Robinson certainly have done well so far.
