Is there any point even turning up? We may as well just concede the match and save the embarrassment.
With the T20 final out of the way there is no excuse not to put out a full strength team. I would make six changes.
Orr Haines (c) Brown wk Salt Rawlins Thomason Garton (to bowl and bat FFS) Jordan Carson Meaker Claydon
We have to put a side that can compete if we are to avoid being 18th out of 18th.

You're delusional. The top 3 and Garton, yes. The rest? Yep, delusional.

Garton flies out to the UAE for the IPL on Sunday. Thomason, Meaker and Claydon have already left the club. Salt and Jordan haven’t played red ball all season, not likely to start now. The only changes likely are Ibrahim, Coles or Lenham coming back in and maybe Atkins back from injury.

I always thought Kirtley the ultimate hard nosed pro and he'd make a good coach, moulding young men into tough pro's who had pride in their performance. Salisbury, I know little except he never had the same attitude as JK, he fell at the final hurdle. At Surrey all I know is from friends who are members there, knew it all apparently! This seems to be the case now? Kirtley, if he is the person I think he is needs to stand up and speak out or resign. Salisbury has no previous management experience, as far as I know, and it shows! I suggest he resigns and goes on a management course. As for the team, Robinson, probably told to rest, Garton & Jordan IPL, Meaker, Thomason, Claydon gone/going, Beer not required, Salt leaving. Changes only likely to be more kids to the slaughter. Members should boycott the game, only way to show the (loose term) Management. And the future? Finn, 33, can't get a game at Middx, now with children? What a way to end a career! (With a big expensive contract) Who else are they going to attract?

I presume you know Salisbury used to play for us? Played several more tests than Kirtley. He was a coach at Surrey previously, and coached the England disability side.

I would hope Ben Brown plays and is told he has a role to play in all forms next season.

Rawlins and Sarro also in the squad, or was that 11 your selection?

I would be so bold as to go one step further and question even their inclusion in the match day squad based on recent performances. Another disappointing start, Derbyshire rattling up the runs at almost seven an over having according to their commentator had a poor season with the bat and looks like we have already lost Crocombe to injury. Early days, but already fearing another heavy defeat. Would have liked to have seen Robinson involved. Unless, he has already been awarded a central contract, he is our player on our payroll and is needed to give some bite to this inexperienced bowling attack.

This really is a sorry state of affairs.
I thought maybe the race for the wooden spoon would be more of a contest between these 2 teams, alas no evidence of that thus far.

Presumably it's a Hove featherbed? We really should be producing 'result' wickets when we're losing on flatties anyway. This attack needs it. It's not their fault we're missing Garton, H-P and Robinson but on Robinson - is he still on holiday? There are many signs that our leaders couldn't care less about the four day game but our best bowler not playing in what is frankly a massive hour of need is right up there with any of them. Real shame. Rip off. Need addressing these leaders.
