The reality is that, for all Ian Salisbury stressing in the Members Forum how "tight" the majority of the team are, how "they've grown up together", "they desperately want to win and do their best for Sussex".... six ducks and a 1 in the Sussex first innings score confirms the view of many who post on here that Sussex are going out with a whimper, and that some - by no means all - of this current Sussex First X1 are not regular First X1 material. Thank goodness for the 14-year experience of Ben Brown and the tough resistance of Jack Carson who, in his short career, has always shown that he sells his wicket dearly. I really feel that Ian Salisbury needs to consider his position....or the club management should take stock of the win/loss ratio this season and act accordingly.
As far as Andy's comments above, you are wrong. The level of anger is if anything understated, and will surely increase. Many of the recent ex-players like Matt Prior, who always wore his heart on his sleeve for club and country and NEVER went down without a fight, are almost COMPELLED to make comment on the distintegration of the team they played for with such success. To do otherwise is to suggest that you don't care, and you know that Matt, and other ex-players, DO care about the demise of Sussex as serious competitors in CC cricket.

Have to disagree with this. A day's county cricket has to be worth £20. What benchmark are you using when you say that's expensive? Surely you don't expect a county to reduce its prices because it's having a bad season?! why not reduce the prices it might get more people through the turn stiles let’s face it Sussex need all the support they can get doesn’t seem rammed with spectators to me Attendance could be low for reasons other than the team's performance. I suspect: - many members did not renew their subscription this year. - members may feel they wouldn't enjoy the all-day physical restraints under the Covid protocols - members might feel unsafe due to the (non-existent) mask requiremements I don't assume that the team's performances are a major factor in the lower attendances. Anyway, it's too late to reduce prices under the on-line ticket system.

Andyb, you are entitled to your opinion, of course, but I don't believe it is credible to say that members and ex-players are being overly critical of what is happening. If members can't be critical when a team has won two CC games in two seasons, when can they be?
Coming back to the Zoom Forum, Bob Warren was very dismissive of the comments by Matt Prior, and he ignored a number of pointed questions submitted by members, including one observing that Luke Wright had publicly commented that the club's recruitment and retention of experienced players needed to be better. Mr Warren would be advised to remember that he and the other members of the committee and the management are merely the current custodians of this great cricket club of ours, as Alan Caffyn and his committee discovered in 1997. The Sussex Cricket Museum booklet "Revolution '97" should be required reading for all committee members and management. It is a salutary reminder of what can happen when you attempt to gloss over legitimate criticism from members and distinguished ex-players

And im not saying you cant be critical but there isnt one ounce of positivity that you type. Matt Priors comments were rightfully dismissed by the board in my opinion.

It's also worth noting we are misisng 3 key players who are missing through either injury or IPL that will be around next year. Archer Garton and Robinson. Add in to that we are missing 2 overseas slots. Put those 5 in and its a different outlook.
I just dont think management are to blame and i dont think it's as dark as people think.
I'm sitting here not worried about the result as it's almost irrelavent but I want to see our young guns perform and get runs and confidence.
