I’ll make this easy, after watching the inept display yesterday (paying £20 for the privilege) Andrew, Greenfield and the chairman ALL need to go. We have gone from promising challengers to also rans ever since the appointment of Gillespie. Unable to compete with Derbyshire and Leicestershire in 4 day cricket is embarrassing whilst investing heavily in the white ball game. Great to see Luke Wells & Danny Briggs fighting for the title, 2 players that were never given opportunities they deserved by the management. I’m all for giving youth a chance but how we have gone about it is reckless and another shocking oversight. We need clear direction, passion and a born winner in charge………Chris Adams is available…… There's a reason he is available!

I think Chris Adams would make an excellent Director of Cricket for Sussex but please don’t let Matt Prior anywhere near the management, he’s a disruptive influence and wasn’t called the Big Cheese for nothing. Not many people could handle the demands of the DOC role, which is why people need to lay off Greenfield in myy honest opinion

At least this is a bit more encouraging - overseas batsman is essential and an absolute minimum. Overseas bowler will provide the experience needed as well too a young attack. Not sure if he’s implying another batsman in addition as well. It’s what we need, senior players coming in, www.theargus.co.uk/sport/19601591.amp/

Yeah no other DOC to my knowledge overseas both the community cricket side and the playing side as well So he's overworked and not able to focus on both pro cricket and community? How's community doing?

Thatsnot what i said, i said his role was demanding and its not the role people assume he has. Community Cricket appears to be thriving.

Yeah no other DOC to my knowledge overseas both the community cricket side and the playing side as well Our structure was put in place as pioneering a way the ECB want counties to go, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there were others if other counties have begun to follow. Club cricket in the county is in great shape with the largest full pyramid league in the country. My issue is that the county board should be concerned with the fortunes and running of the cricket side and club, not have half of them interested in recreational cricket (and thus is from a recreational cricketer). And you must be the only person in the county who thinks our director of cricket should be free of criticism after the season we’ve had.

I did wonder when the merger took place whether it would create a conflict of interest eventually.

Having Sussex overseeing community cricket doesnt make it better. It was thriving before with several very well run leagues. Only difference loads of emails with directives from ECB most of which are irrelevant to majority of clubs

What ever anyone thinks finishing 18th out of 18 simply is not good enough something needs sorting out and it should start at the top

Yes, but as per an earlier post, we had a team of experienced players and not one full of inexperienced kids all pitched in together. Let’s not try and pretend that the situations are the same.
