Am I being over-pessimistic? I fear we are going to get a mauling Down Under. I can't see beyond a 4-0 defeat or similar.
I'm intrigued to see how our Ollie does on Aussie wickets. Let's hope we're celebrating his first five-wicket haul in Australia.

Last spot seems to be between Broad and Leach. I think it would be a mistake not to use a spinner but then England will be without Anderson or Broad.
Might all be academic anyway as thunder storms are forecast for most of the week in Brisbane.

I expect Hussain's famous "We're gonna have a bowl" brain fade at the Gabba in 2002 was firmly in Root's mind. On the face of it seemed like a poor decision but it was a handful of good deliveries and some woeful batting that did for England rather than the conditions. If he'd put Australia in I think they would have handled it way better, maybe 175 - 3 or so by the time the rain came. What was more perplexing what the decision to not play Stuart Broad. |

Anywho, as I've said a billion times, this is the worst England test side I've seen in anyone's lifetime, and particularly mine. The top three is the issue, and if you have an issue there, you're f***d. Especially against a decent attack. Frankly I think Haines, Orr and Brown would do a better job. Pretty sure they did during the last season so it ain't so stupid.
No blame on the toss for me but we had to play Broad. I reckon Robinson will be our bowler of the tournament. If Root can bat well given what's on his complicit mind, well good on him.

He's good on Sky or commentating on the IPL but not on Fox, think he had some sort of competition with Mark Waugh as to who could talk over the other commentators the most and obviously has a personal grudge with Mitchell Starc so was spewing all sorts of drivel while Starc was bowling. |

Dismal. Not just what I just said but England. Dismal. No top three, no wins. Root and Silverwood are about to oversee what, our fourth consecutive series loss on the bounce? Think it is. Two at home as well. Not good enough, nowhere near.
We have four decent spinners in England, and that's the problem. Although two of them may actually be in Australia, and Rashid and Ali could be holidaying there for all I know, but you know...

Well done to the much maligned top 3, I knew they'd come good. Some of you should have a little patience.
Looking forward to watching a couple of big tons tonight. As it's Friday, I'm allowed to have TV on til one.
