I agree highly unlikely, but a draw was achieved at Derbyshire, so not impossible.
At present, the Club management is relying on two reasons for not being competitive. Both are valid.
1/ Blooding the youngsters.
2/ Injuries.
The problem being, unless the team becomes more competitive this season, for how long can these reasons be used to keep supporters onside? If you are blooding youngsters, injuries come with the territory.
Today, Sussex could bat most of the day, Pujara gets another double century, and come Sunday, a draw is feasible. On the other hand, Pujara may fall in the fourth over.
As ever the score at lunch will show us the path of this match. You would need to be a courageous betting man to put your money on a draw.

The clear problem we have is that our bowling unit does not make it difficult for the oppo batters. Too many easy runs on offer. Harms says we have problems bowling the oppo out; yes of course but the main problem is us giving oppo batters easy runs. Sussex's mismanagement of our spinning personnel is very disappointing. On to today, a great opportunity for Delray to show his doubters that he has what it takes to suceed in red ball cricket. Come on Sussex!!

As predicted there goes Delray playing across the line yet again and having his stumps rearranged.

Pujara gone for 109. I suspect a quick batting collapse now and a second innings follow-on soon after lunch. A draw seems highly unlikely unless Haines gets a triple hundred.

As predicted there goes Delray playing across the line yet again and having his stumps rearranged. Delray hasn’t got the patience for 4 day cricket he just never learns from his mistakes and he certainly isn’t worth his place in the team as a spin bowler the sooner they drop him from the 4 day game the better

As predicted there goes Delray playing across the line yet again and having his stumps rearranged. How many more opportunities would you give him Joe? Unfortunately I think he flatters to deceive. He’s an athletic lad who looks as if he should be better than he is but he’s been given plenty of opportunities and has come up wanting. He certainly wouldn’t be playing in the 1st XI if we were at full strength but he’s a decent 2nd XI player. You just know that if Sussex let him go he’d find another county and start playing like Wally Hammond!

Sussex looking down the barrel…..

With the exception of Pujara it is another poor Sussex batting performance. It is a good patch and 269 is under par. Much better required from Orr, Haines (another second innings big score required from him), Clark and Rawlins in the second innings.

Good to see my crystal ball is working, although I wish it wasn't. Second innings begins after lunch, trailing by a double nelson, Pujara gets a double century, Haines a triple century and hey ho, Sussex win in the last over of the match on Sunday. You've gotta dream, otherwise, watching Sussex can be really depressing, right now.

No crystal ball needed here. Could have wrote this script 11am Thursday. We badly need to bat first.
Old shot a ball Haines goes early. He needs to swap or balance out his mindset between the batting and skippering me thinks. Take a bit of aggression off the batting and put it in the field mate.
Why have we signed someone else's flop on loan? Is it just to stunt the growth of our quality young batsmen coming through? You'd have thought a team using the mantra of youth, and finding success with it, would be against it. Carter is quality in the making, you can see it. Get him back in and send Alsop back home, morons.
We could have signed Amir instead of these 2/3 useless loans and used him as a Colonel Kolpak.
I see Brown has a ton. Back in Div 1 where he was brought up and belongs.

And another fing, if we didn't scapegoat Brown we'd have an OS bowler right now and we wouldn't even need a Colonel Kolpak. Don't wanna keep banging on about it, what's done is done, but when the errors are so catastrophic they need digging up now and then.

Now with Pujara and Haines gone, this match could be over by the close of play. Can Rawlins, Orr, Rizwan or Clark make 100 and take the game to Day 4?

What a shambolic run-out. Rawlins commits hari-kari just an over before tea. His repertoire of getting out never ceases to amaze. This match will be done and dusted before the day is out.
The predictable agony grinds you down.
Sussex: 89-6.
