Pujara is a top class player enjoying Division 2 bowling.
Sussex end 315 runs ahead. So, with 4+ sessions to go in the game, surely, this "should be" our first win of the season and an extraordinary turn-a-round from previous matches.
Still 51 overs left in the day. Great to see the Club finally bossing an opposition.
Sussex: 538 all out.

We are playing on a road in Bristol 800 runs!! When do you think Sussex will declare to try and bowl Durham out? No need to declare with our tail!

Why is Crane playing ahead of Lenham?

Session 1 79-6 Sessions 2-9 851-14
This is the sort of pitch which does nothing for county cricket.

Playing on a batsman pleasure dome makes this match ever more likely a draw now, unless friendly pitch cracks appear for the spinners. Oh, if only Jack was injury-free. A perfect moment for him.
Even so, if we come away with 15 points (?), I'm sure everyone on the MB would have taken this at the start of the game. We leapfrog Leicestershire and end up 7th in the table.

Tom Clark 17 overs 3 for 21 in the first inns. Sussex need to win and he has bowled 2 overs in the Durham 2nd innings. Don’t get it? ?

Muralitharan, Warne, McGrath and Anderson wouldn't take wickets on this pitch. Teams should be docked points for producing pitches like the one here and at Bristol.

Tom Clark 17 overs 3 for 21 in the first inns. Sussex need to win and he has bowled 2 overs in the Durham 2nd innings. Don’t get it? ? Couldn't agree more Steve, an absolute mystery!! Haines reverts to Plan B the short ball legside trap, which in fairness would have worked if Crane had taken the catch. We have dropped far too many this season at crucial times, Mullaney when he was on 49 in the first game, went on to make 192 and D'Oliveira when Worcestershire would have been 137 for 5, who went on to make 169. Yet Durham have taken two screamers this match. I am not saying it would win us the match, but it would have given us a much needed breakthrough. Back to Haines, in addition to the non involvement of Clark, one of my concerns is he never seems to have a Plan C or D or E. I recall Mullaney in the first game as Notts skipper never seemed to stop making changes to the field or switching bowlers or changing the line of attack when looking for wickets. Rightly or wrongly, I still feel Haines will make a great future Captain, but feel he has been pushed into the role ahead of schedule and really feel his focus should be on his batting at present. Increasingly looking like a draw, even more so if weather intervenes.

Please can we get a Head groundsman who knows how to prepare a proper cricket wicket rather than this road!

Now I am really confused.
Our best bowler in their first innings only gets two overs in the first eighty of their second gets handed the second new ball.

Haines is a good batsman but an awful captain.
His use of Clark and negative fields. Pujara with all his experience should be captain.
