True. I guess you need a Pattinson or similar to suddenly become available. The attack you set out there is indeed a decent one, but all 5, it could be argued, are either injury prone or are currently out with long-term injuries, so an overseas seamer gives us that greater depth and someone to lead the attack. I would also still like to see an overseas batsman - ideally Pujara again? - as we are still a young side, and I think we would struggle without both of Pujara and Rizwan in the top 6. Exactly! I'm not saying dont sign an overseas bowler just that it isnt easy finding one let alone 2. The pitch is the issue not necessarily our attack. Let's be careful here John, agreeing with each other shouldnt become habit :-) Pitch is a joke but if we are going to continue producing such rubbish pitches we need to sign bowlers who are used to bowling on sub continent pitches.

I disagree unless the pitches change considerably we have five who scored 500+ runs this season excluding Pujara. The problem is not the batting. The bowling has been the problem and we cannot rely on the injury prone Carson, Robinson and Hudson-Prentice being fit or Garton ever recovering from long Covid. If you don't take 20 wickets you won't win!

The first 45mins has shown how poor our bowling is. Sussex will have to bat well to save this game.

Lead now 75. Rawlins bowling complete rubbish. We just can't stop the runs. This is seriously poor bowling. I can't bear to watch any more.

Two worst sides in county cricket. Both teams belong in Minor County Cricket. Sussex bowling pies from both end.

Someone sitting near me at the ground was moaning about Sussex batting on so long on Tuesday. You should always declare by 450 in CC, they claimed. We would have been in trouble now if that advice had been followed.

Total garbage. Our so called spinners are 1 - 390 from 90 on the final day, and they make up 40% of the bowling attack. We have the worst 3 man attack I have ever seen and it could have all been solved by one OS signing.
Don't worry though, it's all going to plan.

I'm trying to remember the score when Rawlins missed that run out. I think Ackermann was on about 70 and Mulder not many. One of the biggest misses ever of all time in terms of runs in the partnership, I reckon.

Quite possibly the most costly miss of all time!! I take it you are at the ground? If you are, total respect. Not sure I could sit through watching our bowlers being hit all round the ground.

I appreciate the wicket is a road, I acknowledge we are not at full strength and are missing a number of our first choice bowlers, but surely we should have put up a better show than we did this morning?
227 runs conceded in 34 overs at 6.68 runs per over. Both batters scoring over a 100 runs in the session. A 477 run partnership. Bowlers bowling without any clear plan, not appearing to be trying to get the batters out and equally not being able to restrict the runs. Records falling like they are going out of fashion and all to the detriment of Sussex. Highest score conceded against a first class county!!
The euphoria of the long awaited Derbyshire win has been quickly extinguished.
We talk about taking twenty wickets in a match, I am starting to have serious doubts whether we will take twenty wickets in total between now and the end of the season!!
I will let other posters draw their own conclusions, but if we accept the league table is a measure of the quality of the opposition, then in effect we are playing the poorest first class red ball side in the country.
Oh yes, one last question. Why hasn't Clark bowled? If he has recovered from his hamstring injury, he should be good to go.

I intended to travel up for the first two days, but was foiled by a signal failure cancelling all train services to Clapham for two days. I missed not getting to Hove for one of my rare visits, but equally think I may have been spared some tortuous viewing. Will consider trying for one of the remaining home games in September, but intend to be at Taunton for the RLC fixture next month.
