Notts are currently top of the 2nd division with 174 points. Duckett is their top run scorer with 1005 for the season and Paterson their leading wicket taker with 36.
Sussex remain 7th with 105 points. Leading run scorer is Pujara with 999, leading wicket taker is Crocombe with 15.
Will we see the return of Robinson, Garton or FHP for this one?

Will we see the return of Robinson, Garton or FHP for this one? No. Unless Hudson-Prentice can bat and bowl then I can't see him displacing any of the top six as it would reduce/weaken the bowling options. Assuming of course the top six are all fit. In the case of Robinson, if he is fit and assuming we can get permission from the ECB to select him, if as rumoured on this messageboard he is leaving at the end of the season then I would hope we would give the opportunity to others who are more likely to be part of the set up next season. Even less likely that Hudson-Prentice to feature. In the case of Garton. Really don't know. Seems to be able to feature in some capacity for the seconds, but not considered fit enough for the first eleven. Outside chance, rate the likelihood around 25%. Feel for the guy as he has clearly been suffering, but his availability over the past couple of seasons is becoming a concern. What do you reckon Joe?

Agree re FHP but think Robinson should play if available as he would seriously increase our chances of a win and we should always put out our best side. Garton should play if he’s fully recovered as he balances the side coming in at 7 but only if he can bowl at least 20 overs per innings.

If Robinson is fit he should play, both for the reason Joe gives, but also because England may need him for the tests to come mid Aug against SA

If we play really well we could draw. I do like TB, Trent Bridge is nice too.

If Robinson is fit he should play, both for the reason Joe gives, but also because England may need him for the tests to come mid Aug against SA I understand where you are both coming from on fielding our strongest team, but if they weren't prepared to play Luke Wells for a whole campaign, I don't rate Robinson's chances of a game if as is rumoured he is about to up sticks. As for his England prospects, do you really think he is in the reckoning for the South Africa Tests? I get the feeling with the emergence of Potts he has dropped down the pecking order, notwithstanding he has hardly bowled a ball in a competitive match this season. Didn't Jon Lewis mention something about him needing to improve his fitness even before the start of this season? www.skysports.com/cricket/news/12123/12515750/the-ashes-ollie-robinson-must-become-fitter-bowler-to-star-in-test-cricket-long-term-says-jon-lewisIt will be interesting to see if he retains his central contract, I suspect he will need to do a bit of work proving his fitness and taking wickets if he wants to reclaim his Test place. Hopefully with us, but the rumours on this board do have a habit of coming true.

Hopefully with us, but the rumours on this board do have a habit of coming true. I reckon Salt, Lees, Brook, Parkinson, Jamie Overton, Gleeson, Potts, Topley, Willey and Foakes could gain central contracts in place of Morgan (Retired), Burns, Tom Curran and Bess (dropped due to poor form), Mahmood, Stone, Woakes, Wood, Robinson and Archer (injured for most or all of the season).

However, injuries may happen, and if he is fit and recaptures his bowling form, he may be needed for one of the tests. So if he is fit for tomorrow, I think he should play. If he remains unfit, or does not perform well in the tests, clearly his central contract is threatened. As he will be on a very good contract with Sussex, this will have implications.

Orr Clark Pujara c Carter wk Ibrahim Rawlins Lenham Robinson Karvelas Currie Hunt Bit light on the batting CP. They might play FHP as a batter at 4. Also Coles may get a game. So Hunt and Lenham to sit this one out.

Given Robinson is named in the squad and Finn is rested, can't see him not being selected in his place. I suspect they will use Hudson-Prentice as a batter only to replace Alsop and juggle the order. A straight shoot out between Coles and Lenham for the second spinner. Hunt will be interesting. In my view he has been the pick of our young group recently and deserves a recall, but can you leave out either of the trialists after the last match? Orr, Clark, Pujara (c), Hudson-Prentice, Carter, Ibrahim, Rawlins, Lenham/Coles, Robinson then two from Hunt/Karvelas/Currie. You could go with all three and leave out either Ibrahim, Rawlins or the second spinner, but puts more pressure on the top order batters to deliver. Would be surprised if they went down this route.

So Hunt and Lenham to sit this one out. Carter scored 185 against Glamorgan batting at 4. Irrespective of whether Hudson-Prentice plays or not Sussex are relying on top four scoring heavily without Haines and Alsop. Robinson and Hunt strengthens the seam bowling. We need to take 20 wickets to win.

The fact that the Sussex media haven’t made much of Robinsons return makes me question whether he’ll play or not. Perhaps it’s just a step towards playing? He traveled to Lords and was bowling in the warm-ups but didn’t play. They may have named him because we’ve got another injury just to make the numbers up?
