An unexpectedly impressive appointment. If the rumours are true, Mr Andrew had very little to do with this, and it was down to Jon Filby. Yes and Ian Gould by all accounts. How does this work? I'm really pleased Farbrace is coming; it sends all the right signals. Surely Andrew and Greenfield had a major part in the selection and interview process. Good that Filby is involved, he is one of the genuine "good guys ". I would have expected Gould and Adams to have some input; what is the point of their Committee roles if not. Now replace Kirtley. He has shown he can not manage and communicate very well. Some of our younger bowling talent has gone sideways and backward. Why not dangle the bowling coach carrot in front of Finn?

Farbrace a renowned positive character.
Ollie must have been involved in this decision too….

Yes considering Salisbury used to describe Kirtles as “the best bowling coach in the world” have any of our young bowlers actually improved under him?

And considering he was in charge of the T20, he didn't even understand how good Orr and Alsop could be at white ball. These two got in by accident. Kirtley was a very good player, and put a decent shift in playing for Sussex. But that's where it ends. He should be nowhere near the current squad.

Why have Currie and Hinley been removed from the squad page (not based on performance) hopefully the new coach will see sense and restore them to the squad especially when you look at how many chances we have given Harrison Ward (who gave hima two year white balll contract? He should not keeping Alsop or Orr out of the one-day side like he did last season) Why is Luke Wright still on the squad page? Why are Foreman and Tear not listed either?

Currie apparently has a problem with his bowling action (considered to be a chucker).
If he can't remedy that then there can be no contract.

Grubby already oversees the academy, the womans team, Sussex League Cricket and all the Mens teams. He isnt coach of any of them. I’m well aware he isn’t coach of any of them. Farbrace will now lighten his load by overseeing the men’s professional teams so that he can concentrate on all the pathways and pillars 😉 The head coach always has overseen the mens team, Grubby looks after contracts.

As I said in an earlier post, I expect Farby to oversee on and off the pitch.

and you'd be wrong We’ll see… Exactly Joe, telegraph interview hinted at some power being taken away from Grubby. And can anyone really see Farby being ok with having Keith Greenfield as his boss?!

Exactly Joe, telegraph interview hinted at some power being taken away from Grubby. And can anyone really see Farby being ok with having Keith Greenfield as his boss?! Rob Andrew will be the big boss then your standard org structure occurs. The interview never said power was taken away jst some of his duties will be shared which is long overdue as the role i'd imagine is very demanding. I'd like to see if he will keep hold of Kirtley as i guess his role as T20 head coach is now redundant. I'd like him to be able to bring in some of his own staff to enable a few new voices in the dressing room.
