We have a squad with the welcome addition of Ollie Robinson.
Pujara (c) Alsop Carson Carter (wk) Clark Coles Crocombe Haines Hudson-Prentice Hunt McAndrew Orr Robinson.
Yorkshire lost their opening fixture against Leicestershire and had a wash-out at Bristol last week so sit bottom of the table. They have a strong squad and must be one of the favourites to go back up to Div 1.
Weather looks a bit hit and miss depending which forecast you look at but this promises to be a great game if the weather doesn’t dampen proceedings.

Haines Orr Alsop Pujara (c) Clark Carter (wk) Coles Hudson-Prentice McAndrew Robinson Carson
That would be my XI but i think Crocombe will pay for either Clark or Coles in my team.

Very clear message from Farby in his pre-match comments. A good performance gets you into the 1st team. Simples A queue forming there as the 2s are in the process of giving Hampshire quite the shellacking!
A strong looking squad here. Not sure you can drop Crocombe after his 5 for in the last game

Coles making more runs today, I think Clark may be looking over his shoulder.
Crocombe is terrible in the field and its just personal preference to play 3 out and out seamers and 1 spinner especially when youve 5th bowler options all over the place.

Absolutely AB, lovely second innings knock from Coles. I was worried at bit worried at 165/6, having made my comment at about 145/3, but cool heads from Karvelas and Lenham to see the side home

I presume you’ve got Clark as 4th seamer, which we wouldn’t have if Coles played instead. I think your expected team will be the one - I think we’ll go 5 batsmen and Carter, with FHP at 7?

We bat long, whoever we select from this squad, and in a game likely to be interrupted by rain, we should maximise our bowling attack. So I think Crocombe will play. Yorkshire team looks strong but morale could be their weak point.

It wouldn't shock me if Carson misses out this week just as a one off. Given the weather and how the game will probably play out as a result, I think Farbrace might go with 4 seamers and Coles as the lone spinner to maximise the batting as much as possible.
Would of course be harsh on Carson given his luck with injuries and non cricketing distractions with Salisbury last year etc. I personally would play Carson, but I don't see why they would bring Coles into the squad straight from a 2nd XI match if they aren't going to play him given that he's already integrated into the first team, knows the squad etc.

Not Clark, you have Haines and Coles if needed, just my belief that with Ollie we do not need 4 out and out seamers but thats only my preference. Yeah FHP will be 7 but from what ive seen of his batting thats far too high.

Think the playing XI will be
Orr Haines Alsop Pujara Clark Carter Hudson-Prentice McAndrew Carson Robinson Crocombe
Our bowling is obviously hugely boosted with Ollie Robinson but we won’t want to over-bowl him so 4 seamers is a must to be able to rest and rotate. Haines is a part time bowler who can usually contain one end but he went at 8 an over in the last game. I agree H-P is a tad high at 7 but all our bowlers can hold a bat with useful lower order runs.

I think that's the valid point isn't it. FHP may be a place too high at 7, but then we'd have McAndrew and Robinson which is a strong 8 and 9, and Carson is no slouch either.
