Hasnt taken him long to break from the i'll always play 4 seamers but i really like this selection. It's very aggressive, we have 4 front line bowlers with able support form Haines and Coles. Karvelas at 11 too shows huge strength in the batting. And been fully vindicated as not only have we bowled them out but the fill-in 4th seamer got 2 wickets. Totally agree. When you have the out and quality of Ollie Robinson you should only need 3 front line seamers. McAndrews replacement in July is already looking key.

A good day ends on 221/4 with Smith and Coles still at the crease (68* and 50*)

I think it’s fair to say that’s a really good day! Outstanding from Ollie again and another excellent showing from Ari but all the bowlers were excellent. James Coles continues to show what a really exciting talent he is, and hopefully we go on to get 350+ tomorrow. It’s certainly been a really enjoyable start to the season long May it continue!

Steve Smith will be enjoying this immensely against his friendly rival Labuschagne. Let’s hope Smith gets a big hundred tomorrow. I don’t expect Labuschagne to fail for a second time so we might need a large lead to avoid an awkward run chase.

Eleven players Farbrace needs to play if we are genuinely serious about trying to win the match. Orr Haines Alsop Pujara Coles Carter Hudson-Prentice Robinson McAndrew Carson Karvelas As an expert with the benefit of hindsight, we should have left Pujara out and played Smith. Still, it seems to turning out OK so far!

Well deserved maiden century from Coles. Well done to Alsop on his county cap and Sussex on their first innings bowling performance. We will need to bowl very well tomorrow as the pitch appears to have flattened out on day 2.

This is when not having a 4th seamer becomes a problem. Robinson and Karvelas being kept back for the new ball, meanwhile FHP going at over 7 an over.

Give Smith a bowl could get a lucky wicket someone trying to slog him.

This is when not having a 4th seamer becomes a problem. Robinson and Karvelas being kept back for the new ball, meanwhile FHP going at over 7 an over. The two chances that went down off Carlson, albeit difficult, are now proving very costly. Is Robinson even on the field? Fielded at slip this morning, which is unusual and suggested he may have had a problem. Playing three seamers is always a high risk strategy as you are hoping none of them pick up an injury once the match commences. We as a team have failed to take advantage of many match winning positions over the last couple of seasons. Eight opposition wickets before lunch on the first day and a 358 run first innings lead will, if we don't win this match, be taking this failing to a whole new level.

Not really as we have yet again failed to bowl the opposition out twice. Our bowling needs a major overhaul. Starting with Hunt, Atkins and Finn.

Tough day in the field today. Again we fail to force the win from a good position.
Robinson didn’t come out after lunch, we have to hope that whatever the problem is it will improve enough overnight for him to continue tomorrow. Without Robinson I can see this game drifting towards another draw.

Re: Ollie, he appears to be suffering from a sore ankle. Going for a scan on Monday and therefore, unlikely to bowl tomorrow. What seemed like a win in three days, may turn now into a Sussex struggle to get a draw.
How quickly a match can change.

The Obvious Question
Both the club and supporters know that to gain promotion to Division 1, the Sussex bowling attack must improve to regularly take 20 wickets a game.
How do we achieve this?
