Hopefully the current Board will be as successful in appointing a new CEO as they were when finding a Head Coach last year.

I see it as one down two to go. My hope is that Greenfield and Filby will follow Andrew out the door. Just because you are “ Sussex through and through” doesn’t make you the best man/woman for the job. Clean sweep is what’s needed. Filby - Succeeded in bringing in the highest calibre head coach we could bring in. Greenfield - Ok the first team havent delivered in one of his job roles (although nothing in his job role could directly influence on field performance), but his pathway system he put together with links to Oxfordshire and Guernsey alongside our own county has been a staggering success - Haines, Orr, Carson, Clark, Carter, Coles, Garton, FHP, Ibrahim, Salt, Wells amongst others have all come through that system. The womens team have gone from strength to strength and we have a Sussex Womens Premier League. I hope we never just sack off people because some fans dislike them.

A lot of the players you’ve listed shouldn’t have been anywhere near the 1st XI 3/4 years ago when they were thrown in to replace all the top senior players who left because of mismanagement. Half of them still shouldn’t be in the 1st XI. Nothing to do with liking or disliking them as people but it’s a results driven business and there’s been no progress Andy, progress would be promotion to Div 1 or winning a white ball trophy.

Think he’s done a decent job and remember that chairman position is unpaid. Not sure we could do better tbh Grubby I completely agree mind and think he’s a lucky boy to still be at the club

All im saying is look beyond the first team, that is a small part of the job role whether you like that or not it is a fact! Aiming criticism in the wrong direction isnt helpful or will solve any problems. Overlooking successes of this county to fit narratives is wrong too!

I think if you have a 1st XI who are winning and bringing trophies to Hove then the rest will follow, success breeds success. More kids will want to play the game, more people will come to games, more revenue will be banked and more memberships will be taken up and renewed.

We blew the moeny from our successes in the noughties and we blew the Spen Cama money! Having long term guaranteed income just doesnt feel like a bad idea to me. Having a solid pathway thats regularly producing 1st team players and then england seem a good idea too. I just feel that it isnt all the doom and gloom you paint.

No-one dislikes Grubby, he’s a nice guy. But similarly, someone shouldn’t be defended just because someone likes him and has played club cricket with him. He also oversaw the dismantling of a decent side with the departure of 6 players and youngsters all thrown in together. That’s how he’s influenced on-field performances, I’d say that we performance director he was somewhat responsible. And I agree, some of the decisions in recent years have indeed been staggering.

Like others, I thought Andrew was a great appointment for the Club. Former Chairman, Jim May, told me that everything was done to choose the right candidate after Zac Toumazi decided to leave, including an outside non-partisan body overseeing the interviews. Andrew was considered the best candidate by all and asunder. I even had the privilege of interviewing him several times. I was impressed too. At first, it went well. He sacked Davis and brought in Jason Gillespie, which at the time, some thought was an act of left-field genius. That first year under Dizzy's auspice, we reached the T20 Final and came close to promotion to Division 1. And then Covid struck. Since then it has been downhill, led by Andrew's almost obsessive vision to lead the Club with the youngsters. Was it a financial decision? Probably. Youngsters are cheap and easily managed. The old guard had to go, used to competitive county wages first brought about by former banker, Jim May. Andrew was concerned by the Club's finances from day 1. By applying for the ECB job back in the summer, Andrew must have known his days at Sussex were numbered. His experiment wasn't working. And his legacy? Apart from the obvious negatives, the new apartment block, perhaps, is a positive, but how the various development phases will pan out now is anyone's guess. There are still a number to follow. These include a new staff office block; conference and event centre; new and improved seating for spectators at the north end of the Ground; supported by updated bars, toilets and refreshment facilities; while the existing hospitality rooms in the south east corner are to be replaced with new seating stands. Will any of this now occur? Meanwhile, the club is still left with two influential diehards, the present Chairman and Keith Greenfield, both loyal to the last and Sussex through and through. The Chair has a major influence over who the new CEO will be. Let's wait and see. This is one of the reasons Sussex CCC has nosedived. Not because having an affiliation with the club is necessarily a bad thing for those in senior roles. But that too many supporters think it makes those leaders better-qualified to do their jobs.

I enjoy these posts because its a I think i know but i dont post, which is the exact reason i defend Keith so much. You know John that we had no choice but to balance the books left in a dreadful state following Toumazi and May and also the added disadvantage of Covid but you think you know that it was Keiths choice to do so. The main reason Keith will always have my backing is I know that everything he does is try and make the entirety of Sussex Cricket better now and in the future. Yes Rob hasnt had the best tenure but i genuinely believe now isnt the time for him to go, he has to see the job through and deliver what hes promised. Thats my opinion and him walking away from that makes him a very very weak character.

No announcement on this yet by Sussex, unless I’ve missed it?
Please don’t be another Chris Wright change of heart.

No announcement on this yet by Sussex, unless I’ve missed it? Please don’t be another Chris Wright change of heart. The same journo who broke the Andrew story also reported that the women's role had gone to Leshia Hawkins who was announced this morning. I suspect it's typical Sussex/Andrew trying to keep things under wraps as much as possible. I'm still saying Andrew out at the end of each post until it's confirmed he's gone. Andrew out.

So pleased if it is true. I wasn't going to renew my membership if he stayed but will renew if he does go. Hope Andrew takes Greenfield with him. Happy days if they both go!!

I would imagine that Sussex can not announce anything until the ECB are ready. It isn’t always the fault of Sussex !
