The obvious first reaction is he has very little experience working in cricket, and we are a cricket club. That may or may not matter for the role. Good luck to him. He’s landed himself a great job.

Fitz who? 🤔
Badminton, cycling, rugby, just 6 months of cricket experience and that as an interim. This is sloppy thirds at best.😒

Quite a few of his other roles were in interim positions! He does have experience across a wide range of sports which is good.
Only time will tell.

I suggest you do some background research on our 47 year-old Fitzboydon.
The longest Job he has held in recent years appears to be no-more than three years, where he has become an expert as an interim CEO while regularly resigning from other businesses. Are we sure the Sussex appointment is not as an interim? Meanwhile, his cricketing experience is zilch except for six months at Cricket Scotland (his last job), where again, he acted as an interim, while a full-time CEO was sought.
I aim to write a piece about him this week, where I’ll attempt a balanced review. His past business patterns suggests Fitzboydon may end up resigning and being a short-term appointment. Let us hope not.

Let us hope not. I'm not a journalist so research that I've already done is based on a fans point of view. I sent him a message earlier congratulating him on his appointment which led to a brief exchange and it covered the 'interim' concerns so having hearing his intentions im relaxed about that so this is handy to have before your speculative review and opinions. I've also spoken to senior members of Sussex Management team who were involved in the final stages of the interview process (which to me is encouraging) and while its expected to be positive feedback, a lot of it seemed to be that Fitzboydon will do his best to reconnect the club with its supporters. WC I have a counter suggestion for you look elsewhere than linkedin and wikipedia for your info.

Lab1, a couple of questions while we await Wicked's info. Who are the Sussex Management team? Filby, Farbrace. Who else? What does it mean to reconnect Sussex with its fans? Better cricket, results, comms?

Better cricket, results, comms? bear in mind WC's will alrgely be speculative and from his opinion which is fine in itself but please dont take it as fact. Youll have the 2 you mentioned, the Academy Director and Community Cricket Director. It's only what i took from those conversations but generally a more open dialect (which to be fair isnt hard, he'd only have to speak 3 times a year and itll be an improvement). When you say results thats almost impossible to guarantee from anyone but trying to drive up revenue to increase the playing budget is there too. It's just words, i know that, but if you lead into this appointment with a positive outlook from the start rather than just seeking out the negative. See it as your own chance to start again at the club i guess.

1 thing youd think straight away though is theyd take the job advert down before announcing the new CEO!
