Isn’t Hughes only here for the 50/50 matches and last round of CC matches!! no Thereafter, Daniel Hughes will be available from the start of the T20 Vitality Blast until the end of the season. He will play in the County Championship, as well as the Blast.
However, Sussex Head Coach, Paul Farbrace has opted not to use overseas players in this year’s Metro Bank One Day Cup.

Ward - Ave 21 SR 133 Carter - 14 135 Hughes - 28 121 Alsop - 25 122 Coles - 17 128 Simpson - 22 129 Lamb - 13 105 - Bowling Ave 29 Econ 8.8 McAndrew - 12 148 - 31 8.9 Carson- Not played Currie - Just bowling - 12 5.9 Mills - 23 8.10 Average score would be about 160 but theres 2 players in there in Carter and Coles whose average youd only see improving and i think it make the bowling about the same. It really isnt an awful T20 side it just doesnt have sexy names! These vastly expensive names we so desperately miss have yielded a massive 1 T20 cup and 1 runners up medal. Only in that has 1 player not played 10 or more T20 games. Lack of strength in depth is the biggest problem. And the massive Bopara-sized hole of course. Lamb is a decent addition. We can’t afford to have talented long form specialists on the sidelines. So Haines should be a contender. I’d also have FHP opening up, leaving Coles waiting in the wings.

But then when you think about it youve named 2 more players that you think should be playing, then theres Lenham. So you got a core squad of about 13/14 backed up by the likes of Lion-Cachet and Ibrahim. The ECB might even allow Robinson to play a game or 2 Im not a lover of Bopara but the decision not to offer him another year for him to play in the middle of a very young side does seem a little odd.

That’s Farbrace for you. For better of worse he’s no nonsense, and with Bopara there was nonsense. so he’s out. Cutting our nose off to spite our face ? Possibly. Short term pain? Almost certainly. For long term gain? no guarantee of that, but it’s one less ego to contend with. Re the team. Hopefully we will get some Jofra in the T20 too. I don’t think it’s a particularly competitive side compared to others, but we will win a few games.

McAndrew has now finished his stint in the Big Bash as Sydney Thunder not through to knockout stage.
9 matches 5 wkts @39 67 runs @8
Hardly earth shattering for our star import.
Daniel Hughes has faired a bit better.
5 matches 178 runs @44

Yeah not his best big bash but with the Thunder struggling through out they were never going to look pretty. Im not sure anyone has referred to him before as a star import just a very solid pro.
And as youve said before you dont believe Stats are Everything.

Yes, I’m not convinced that the club is being straight with us about finances. Supposedly we have a healthy budget sheet and we have shed the salaries of Finn, Bopara, Orr, Rawlins, Garton, Atkins and Sarah Taylor plus presumably reduced the salaries for Currie and Ward. We’ve added Simpson and Lamb but there must be a big net gain and yet we’re penny-pinching in areas like this. It just doesn’t add up.

I'm wondering just how much damage these offices not being rented out have caused, hopefully the new CEO will be far more transparent about the finances to avoid all this speculation.

Averaging 22.5 after 5 Sheffield shield games with a HS of 59. Something isn't right at NSW because they dropped Kurtis Patterson too. Both should walk into their eleven. They also dropped Solway altogether despite having a first class average of 40 a couple of years ago.
