With hindsight it was a cock up on a grand scale by Hampshire as they not only tossed away two bowling points but also five draw points which would have left Sussex needing 16 points rather than nine. Not as dire as you make out. At 9 points behind they would still need to beat Notts say 22 points. And Sussex lose or draw . with 16 points behind they still stay up with a win against Notts and Sussex lose. But the odds of Sussex getting a Draw are much worse than the gamble they took which could have been decisive.ofcourse if Sussex get a draw they will be devastated.

I think we will stay but by less than seven points. One win in the last sixteen games for Sussex is a pathetic run and Joyce and Robinson will be lucky to remain in their positions for next season.
