Losing the toss is not a good start, although given the two seam attacks, don't be surprised if this game is over by Tuesday lunch-time! Anything over 200 is a good score.

I hope I won;'t be accused of gatemouthing when I said Onions and Rushworth would be a real handful in these conditions and Durham will be expecting to take at least 4 or 5 before lunch. Just a statement of the bleedin' obvious!

Be nice for the openers to give us a bit of a start sometime

Be nice for the openers to give us a bit of a start sometime Agreed. I think Nash's temperament is better suited to opening in white ball cricket - or possibly playing at 4 or 5 in the red ball game.

Since Nash and Wells put on 161 against Notts in early June last year, 22 1st wicket partnerships have produced 511 runs at an average of 23. The last 11 innings have produced 135. On edit: and the last 20 2nd wicket partnerships have put on 1220 runs!

Machan flashing hard according to commentary, trying to repeat his 70 ball century of last week, seemingly.
Not saying he's wrong. It sounds as if the ball is hooping all over the place and he may well be better going for his shots and getting a quick 40 in what is likely to be a low-scoring game than trying to grind it out to end up 20 not out at lunch ...

Good recovery from Sussex given the batting conditions. Machan at 3 is already looking a smart move. 8 off the last over. I love his aggression.
