How does buying yourself out of your contract work? If you want to leave the club but the club wont agree to release him, you can buy the value of your contract out. Wow so did GG really pay to leave Sussex?

I have been terribly disappointed by Garton. He could and should have supported all of the younger players in all formats. He couldn't be bothered. Had his own Agenda. Ok, he had some fitness issues which are well documented; but his attitude stinks. Good luck to him at Warks. Sussex better off without him.

Based on his contributions since 2020 I’d rather have the salary saving to spend elsewhere. What’s more concerning is the ongoing trend of losing our experienced players. Hopefully that stops here. Exactly, however is he an experienced player? He has played 132 matches in all formats since he debuted in 2016 thats 16.5 games across 3 formats a year and given the extensive list Joe provided of clubs hes played for youd assume this would be much much more especially given you can play upto 36 games a season alone just for Sussex. By normal standards no but by recent Sussex standards this makes him a veteran!

I don't think I'll miss him one bit. Always fit around August, always carrying a knock or got a fitness issue for the other months of English season and then miraculously fit again as soon as the winter franchise leagues roll around.
Buying himself out of his contract says it all really. We've done everything we can for him, but he clearly doesn't care for us, so we should no longer care for him.
Goodbye George, you won't be missed. Don't slip on the crisp packets on your way out.

Bang on!
And yet we still have silence on my questions to a poster that indicated whats happened to George was all Grubbys fault
His inflated wage now gone we can bring in someone else who actually wants to play for Sussex.

To be fair I think it will benefit Sussex and George for him to move on. Obviously on a big wage but because of injuries/ illnesses (a lot of them beyond his control) we haven’t got the best out of him. He’s definitely a talented cricketer and I wish him well at Warks.

Predictable move from someone who appears to hold the county that supported him for years (through more thin than thick), in little regard.
Annoyingly I reckon you’ll see a different George Garton once he’s at another club. Those mysterious injuries will become a thing of the past. He will do well. We will be Chris Jordaned, like Surrey were.
Good on Sussex for standing its ground on the contract.

Yep and we still have silence from my questions, the agenda likes to provoke, light fires and stand back. They then refuse to answer questions, Very similar to a twitter bully i know.

Gone! Mutual consent. Maybe we will find out the inside story one day. From the outside it looks like the club has helped GG more than the other way round.

Clearly talented but a huge attitude change will be needed if he wants to fulfil his potential he still has plenty of time.

Not a word of thanks from George from either ours or Warks' official confirmations. Good riddance.
