I think he may have changed his run-up but his action is the same.
What I meant by that was a stop start pattern doesn’t help him to build up his work load, get his body used to bowling more overs etc.

You mention injury risk, but it was the other way around - he was injury prone and there was the risk and concern that he wouldn’t make it through a 4-day game. But this season, he’s had a much more injury-free run. Has his bowling action been tweaked so he puts his body under less of a strain? Seems to look a lot more orthodox than in that picture that did the rounds last season when he was in the most unnatural position at the point of release. I reckon he looks more controlled in his action too. I suspect, in his wisdom, he's no longer trying to bowl 90 plus each ball. That's how it looks to me anyway. He's always been a great player waiting to happen and hopefully Joe's right about him building up his resistance to injury through bowling more - certainly works for many.

I think your point about not trying to bowl 90mph every ball might be a very valid one.

Well deserved. I voted for him as I'm sure many on this Forum did too.

Garton gets a clean sweep as he’s also won the performance of the season with his superb all-round performance against Middlesex in the Blast.

Gawd! At this rate we will have no youngster seamers left to play for the club. Journo, Rob Johnston, is a keen watcher of Sussex CCC. He may even have a mole within its depths after gaining the scoop of Mark Davis' sacking as Head Coach. Ollie, George... who else? Will we be croaked too? Jon Lewis is both friend and foe. Sussex's George Garton made a strong impression in the last round against Yorkshire, removing Joe Root LBW, during a first innings burst of genuine pace and aggression which yielded three wickets in the space of four overs. Garton, who has just turned 24, has been on England's radar for a while, ever since he was called-up as injury cover during the 2017/18 Ashes tour when England's lack of pace was conspicuous by its absence. Speed is not something Garton lacks. He was clocked at 94mph at the U19 World Cup in 2016.www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/117260/george-garton-and-topley-answer-to-englands-search-for-a-quality-left-arm-paceman

Think a Test bow is a little way off yet for Garton, he’s got huge potential but needs more consistency which will come with bowling more overs. I was surprised to read that he’s only played 20 first class games.
The answer to your question, who’s next? My money would be on Jack Carson.

He's been on the radar a while, although on the outskirts of it. Him getting the England skipper out has got some joker running about giving him an England cap. He should have played many more Champ games for us but negative management and injuries have nobbed him over.
Someone's twisting Sussex's melon man, they speak so hip man but they're twisting our melon man.
Maybe dumbo Brown could try opening the bowling with him one day.

Negative management? No it was called being injured.

I knew it couldn't last Ash. In my defence though, I said both injuries and poor management. I think that's right. By poor management of course I mean simply not picking a young player because he could be erratic. He should have played more by now, even with the injuries, and if he had he'd be even better now. Or injured.

The reason he didn’t get picked more was because there was concern he wouldn’t last a 4-day game, nothing to do with negative management and wholly to do with injuries.
Not sure “Dumbo” Brown is particularly flattering either. Suggests you think you know more than him.

Well hopefully he's got a good shrink. I know how devastating it is for people to be called names these days. And dumbo too, ouch.
Ultimately, if you don't play a prospect because he might break down or go for a few, you have a negative outlook. If you play him and don't concern yourself with maybes, you have a positive one.
Yes I think I do know better than Brown on this. And on the management for having a keeper as captain. Do you think that Garton should be beaten to the new ball by a couple of teenage rookies? Do you think it's right for a keeper to captain?

Bitter sweet, as we will lose George for probably three T20 games (Surrey, Kent and Middlesex) and he will, no doubt, carry the drinks and sanitiser.
