Whatever. But it seems your argument is with s&f not me. I was correct in predicting Tredwell was coming in. That is beyond dispute. But I have no idea about this meeting you deny took place but s&f continues to insist happened. Stressful times for Sussex, so probably wise to take a deep breath.

It is becoming almost surreal to think Tredwell will now play for us Mon to Thurs and then against us on Friday.

And after all that fog of misinformation and misunderstanding, what do we have?
Batsmen, presumably, will be Nash, Joyce (and I hope that will be the opening partnership because we need a good start), Machan, Finch or Zaidi, Hamilton-Brown and Wright, then Brown, then Tredwell, Magoffin and two from Anyon, Piolet and Lewis, if the latter is fit.
It's the batting that worries me the most, not merely because individuals are inconsistent, but because of our abysmal failure to build partnerships and hence challenging totals. In the championship year of 2003 there were 25 100 partnerships and 38 50s; in 2006 24 and 28 respectively, and in 2007, 19 and 26. Even last year there were 16 and 33. In the half-season played so far, the figures are 5 and 15. The average 2nd wicket partnership is 28 - less than for the 9th wicket.
Yorkshire offer us half a chance, with their players away at the Test, and the unavailability of Sidebottom and Rashid. A good batting performance and our attack will feel encouraged that there is something worth fighting for, and perhaps Tredwell with something to prove to himself will help us to reassert our self-belief.
Looking forward to seeing it.

Dear Mr Vice-Chairman, please do not leave. There aren't many of us left in the asylum!

It is becoming almost surreal to think Tredwell will now play for us Mon to Thurs and then against us on Friday. He might be the only Sussex player to be on the winning side this week, then! As nobody else has had the courtesy to say it, can I be the first on this message board to extend a warm welcome to James Tredwell and wish him the very best in his time with Sussex. If he gets among the wickets v Yorkshire, Durham and Northants for Sussex in the LVCC over the next month, he could yet force his way into the England Test side as Swann's successor, rather than being seen as a one-day specialist only. Good luck, Tredders. I've been campaigning for you to come to Sussex on loan on this message board and the old one since way back in April, when Kent first dropped you from their four day side, and I shall be delighted to see you wearing a Martlets sweater tomorrow. I'm sure all Sussex supporters will give you a very warm welcome. ps: good joke on the Kent message board tonight: James Tredwell will become the first cricketer to play for both Kent and Sussex in the same week since Lou Vincent (allegedly). LV's achievement trumps JT, though, because he did it in the same match (allegedly). [I'll probably now be told that I am "poisonous" for retelling the joke- but it made me laugh. ]

Campaigning? He's another Lewis, another stop-gap, another blocker, another mistake. But none of that is his fault and it's happening so good luck to the chap.

I'm hopeful Hatchet will be playing, but I haven't a clue what we can do regarding the batting

Good side that Glad Hatchett is in and an unexpected bonus having Luke back so soon. Hopefully I should be able to get down sometime after lunch

hmmm, not looking so good, not quite the 450 I was hoping for - any reports on the pitch? Two wickets straight after lunch and the 130-3 turns into 150-5. Glad to see Luke W playing with a bit of resolve. Head down and take your time, this is four day cricket. Our first priority must be to not lose.

We Had Phil Neville on the BBC at the weekend and we have whispering Bruce Talbot at Arundel, can someone tell him to talk so we can hear? Or give him a mic?
He's whispering about young guys and depth at Yorks. Coaches at Sussex take note!

Six catches for Bairstow in the first seven wkts. One more to equal the first class record, I think.

I see we did get a loan batsman - Tredwell 2nd top score (unless some miracle occurs). 248-9 is not enough

Wow - I got my miracle and tredders is now not 2nd highest score, I knew Lewis is handy with a bat, can either hold up an end or hit out but I did not think Hatchet would last long. An extra two BPs, much more like it and even though 300 is not a great score it is a lot better than 200.
