But the lack of joined up thinking was in response to s&f's account of Davis jumping the gun and allegedly being countermanded by a meeting the next day. How you can be offended by a response to something that you say never happened is baffling. But in any case keeping options open is different from actively seeking a loan player, which is what BBC Sussex reported Davis as saying.

Well done Parsy old chap, I'm with you on this one, you'll be thrilled to hear. I like BM, HH and Flashmeister but they don't half make a mountain out of a molehill. A loan option was considered, then dismissed, end of. This thread already has four pages and the game ain't started yet. We are reeling some what but we all know why. Time for patience while the side fight through these insecurities I reckon. I'm storing up "Frawdy in call for patience" amongst all those other oxymorons and logical impossibilities, like "Military Intelligence" and "Compassionate Conservatism" and "Saddam has weapons of mass distruction ready to be used within 45 minutes". When I am old, and the cold nights draw in and the wolves circle ominously around my ramshackle hovel, I shall comfort myself in front of my miserable pile of damp kindling by pulling these down from a shelf, blowing the dust off, and chuckling anew at the absurdity of the human condition.

Well after all that slapping of wrists and sniping by some messageboarders, ESPN county chat reporting the James Tredwell has signed for Sussex on 1 month's laon. Cricket commentary from Cardiff reports that he is at Arundel "warming up on the outfield" Can anyone confirm please?

From today's T20 I suspect Arafat, Beer and Liddle will be replaced by Finch, Magoffin and Tredwell.
My starting XI: Nash, Finch, Hamilton-Brown, Joyce, Machan, Wright, Brown, Tredwell, Piolet, Anyon, Magoffin

So long Beero, you'll get very little at this club. Bring on the old man stop-gap so we can carry on ignoring the future. Beyond belief for this kid.

So, what's Tredwell's record in red ball cricket over the past season and a half? Must be impressive, I guess?

. If not a batsman, though, could it be that we have instead switched the priority to signing a spinner on loan? Tredwell again left out of the Kent squad to face Glamorgan in the LVCC tomorrow. It would be great to see him at Arundel on Monday instead... You really do specialise in poison on these occasions BM.
Surely you understand why loan signings are not a matter for public speculation by the club.
Oh deary me. So not so much poisonous as correct then, Mr Filby?

Not at all. Mr Filby came on here to say we were not signing a batsman on loan. At the time he made that statement he already knew Tredwell was on his way -as I correctly surmised, having already heard from Kent that talks were at an advanced stage.
It was not, in my opinion, a statement ithat enlightened but which added to the confusion.

One goes away for the day, then return and are met with this. Oh dear. In response to Jon Filby's post that my previous comments were all speculation, having spoken to him at Arundel, I now see the misunderstanding. The meeting I specified did take place, the issues were discussed, but there was a wide assumption that Sussex were seeking an on-loan batsman. Hence, I presumed a decision had been made not to go ahead, when JF stated there would be no on-loan batsman. This was a red herring. Instead, perhaps to the surprise of many supporters including myself, the club have decided on signing an on-loan spin bowler and not a batsman. In this case, James Tredwell, who has been signed for the championship only for one month. I was told by the Club Press Officer today (I am naming my source this time in case I am accused of further speculation ) he will be starting tomorrow against Yorkshire at Arundel. The moral of the story: never presume the rumination of a County Head Coach. Meanwhile, Will Beer must wonder what he has to achieve to gain the faith of the Sussex coaches. Perhaps, he should focus on his batting now? PS: Terrible news on Yardy. The scan showed that his torn bicep was worse than first thought and it is unclear for how long he'll be out of the game.

"There was no such meeting" - Jon Filby
"The meeting I specified did take place" - s&f
Two more totally contradictory statements. This is getting more clouded and confusing by the hour.

I give up - official. You win Borderman.
I will stick to doing things that are useful.
It took you two weeks to see me off this board - you are one smart operator.
