Bit strange that Taylor was included in the T20 squad four days ago but not deemed fit enough now.
Won our last CC game by ten wickets with the balance of four bowlers and Wells - the balance at least shouldn't change. Beer or Robinson should be the thinking.

Won our last CC game by ten wickets with the balance of four bowlers and Wells - the balance at least shouldn't change. Beer or Robinson should be the thinking. There was a lot of criticism, rightly, for the poor news management of Wright's injury and the hopeful inclusion of his name on team sheets, so it doesn't surprise me that Sussex tried to play the same trick with Taylor and then thought better of it, particularly when he has to be on the field for 4 days . Otherwise I agree with you about the balance of the team and that the final decision should be whether to play two spinners or 4 seamers and a spinner. Note that it helps that in the Derby game Robinson switched to spin quite successfully.

Given the weather conditions I think we should be playing 6 batsmen, a keeper and 4 seamers. There will be no need for a spinner in these conditions. We will be batting first as any captain with a brain would surely bowl first today. If you were Machan looking at these weather conditions you might pretend your wrist still hurts as the batsmen are on a hiding to nothing in these conditions.

The atmospherics will no doubt help the bowler and it feels like a day for bowling. But I bet there is little in the pitch for the bowlers; it will be as flat and lifeless as it usually is at Arundel. Right selection, though. Briggs has turned out to be not much better than Dockrell and Burgoyne. Was half way to Arundel but heard the covers had gone back on and gave up. Now back home watching a live stream of day four of Glam v Kent - and following injuries to Billings and Rouse, our much missed friend Callum Jackson is keeping wicket. Glam stream all their matches live on their website in conjunction with BBC commentary. Great picture quality, good camera angle and a fantastic facility which Sussex supporters will enjoy when we play the CC gmae there in August. Can Jim May tell us why Sussex doesn't stream games live from Hove on its website? All it requires is a single fixed camera feed and so costs are minimal.

Not a good decision from the looks of the opening overs from Northants. If the rain holds off and the outfield dries in the warmth Sussex should capitalise on some quite ordinary bowling.

You wouldn't want to be at Chelmsford this afternoon, where Foster and Masters have scored just two runs in the last ten overs as they try to save the game v the ever-improving Leicestershire...the score didn't move for more than half an houron the cricinfo widget and I presumed they must have gone off for bad light or rain!

92/4 after 25 overs.
Joyce (10) Wells (5) Finch (0) and Wright (14) all fall to Azharullah.

Very good bowling by Azarullah and some less assured play by some Sussex batsmen. Nash has looked confident throughout and played with judgment. Some good strokes from Wright and a mixed bag from Machan. Now for post-tea which should shape the innings.

Have switched from Sussex commentary to Essex v Leics for the next hour or so as the game is reaching a gripping climax.
Much amused to learn from the Radio Essex commentators that Chelmsford is now known as the ECG. Perhaps we should start calling Hove the SCG and sue the Sydney pretender to the name, given that the Sussex club has existed since 1839, some 17 years before the New South Wales club was formed!

Jamie Porter's run up problems certainly gave my old ticker a working over yesterday. But, back to Arundel....I'd quite like to make my annual pilgrimage again. Tomorrow's forecast is awful but Friday looks OK once the torrents stop in the early hours. My question for the Sussex faithful is - does anyone know how rapidly the ground recovers from a thorough drenching? Living in Essex, I shall need to make my decision well before any Twitter info is released and I'd rather avoid spending 30-odd quid just to watch two umpires prodding and fretting intermittently. Ta.

Ta. Very good, Rob! I'm thinking of going Friday, having today got half way there (well, East Grinstead, which is probably close to a quarter of the way) and then turned back, so let's swap notes as things develop...

Aye, it'd be good to see you. Apparently there's uncertainty as to where the monsoons are going to hit. I suppose the ideal would be to have a weather spy living in the vicinity. Recent experiences at The Neville and Merchant Taylors School make me highly suspicious of outground drainage.
