Apologies if this is a stupid question but as Archer isn't in the 12 for the first test, does that mean he may be available for Friday? You’d hope so I suspect he might be under instructions to rest his 'side strain'. We'll see.

I suspect he might be under instructions to rest his 'side strain'. We'll see. That would be my guess, but I wonder why they let him play against Surrey. Was that a test of his side strain? If so, 4 overs is not much of a test compared to a Test (if you get what I mean).

He's playing tomorrow. Yippee. If Jordan is up for selection also, who gets dropped in addition to Robinson? Tricky.

Yep, great news.
Meanwhile, Anderson only bowls 4 overs this morning and is off for a scan this afternoon on his calf muscle - the same one he damaged before. To make it worse it's in a different part of this calf to the area that was injured before.
Not good.

Salt, Wright, Evans, Carey, Wiese, Rashid, Jordan, Archer, Briggs, Mills, Topley? I’d play Rawlins for Briggs.

Salt, Wright, Evans, Carey, Wiese, Rashid, Jordan, Archer, Briggs, Mills, Topley? Don't be ridiculous. 4 batters, 7 proper bowlers, Rashid at 6. Only if we're stupid. I would leave out Jordan. Been in pants form anyway and everyone else is doing well. He can come in for Archer later. Drop Briggs anyway because he's pointless and Rawlins is a better bowler. Need to strengthen that batting not defecate on it. Salt Wright Don Bradman Carey Evans Rawlins Wiese Rashid Archer Topley Mills

The primary positive is the Club get paid by the ECB for as long as he's contracted to them, as a reward for bringing him through the County ranks. I am not sure how much. Why would Sussex continue to pay him a salary? Meanwhile, The Times reports the ECB will pay Archer close to £1m a year for his contract. This doesn't include additional sponsorship and general advertising revenues, where someone of Archer's demeanour will be highly sought after. I hope he has a good agent. All in all, one could see Archer earning over £2m a year. This from the Daily Mirror. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/cricket/how-much-englands-cricket-players-20020573
