Yes, Robinson should come in for CJ, I'd have thought, his all round performances for the seconds have been pretty decent lately. Batting wise, if Davis doesn't get another opportunity, then who do we bring in? If Machan and Finch remain injured, none of the other contracted batsmen have been showing much form in the seconds. In fact the form batsman is Harte. Maybe someone will come to the fore in the current game against Hants. Maybe 17 year old Tom Haines will get a go, as he's also had a few good knocks

Maybe 17 year old Tom Haines will get a go, as he's also had a few good knocks Salt and Hudson-Prentice are both on contracts for this year so one of them must be given a chance to prove themselves worthy of renewal. On firm wickets and with a little bit more confidence and esprit showing in the side there could be no better time for a run in the first team.

Magoffin takes his 299th wicket for Sussex, to win by an innings and 2 runs.Well played the Taylors of Gloucester and hope the night out in Brighton was worth dragging everyone back to the ground for 10 minutes play this morning.

Done and dusted. Wasn't this how things were supposed to have been this season

I'm not one to take much notice of 'what ifs', to be honest. If Norwell had played would we have scored over 500? If Klinger had been given out would Gloucestershire have reached 360-odd? If someone had got an edge rather than played and missed on 0, what would have happened? And, so it goes on.
Suffice to say, in my book, that we looked like a proper side for arguably the first team this season. We batted well, looked as though we meant it when we bowled at Gloucestershire in the second innings and several players put in good performances. We looked more like a team.
It would be nice to end on a good run. Hopes of getting to the number one spot are slim, particularly as Essex are doing the business against Derbyshire right now. We travel to Glamorgan next, which is, of course, winnable. If we can score maximum points there, we are at least in the pack waiting for Essex to got the collywobbles or some unlucky September showers.

we looked like a proper side for arguably the first team this season. This. As jonboy says, "how things were supposed to have been"! Instead, it's the first CC win at Hove since the one wkt victory over Warwicks in May 2015, when Robinson bundled out Warwicks in their first innings with 6-33 and Hobden took 4-48 in the second. But if the wicket-takers were different, the principal run scorers in that victory were the same trio as in this match - Wells, Brown and Jordan.

Q: What historic moment happened at 11.12am, August 16th, 2016, somewhere in Hove? A: Sussex CCC won a Championship match at home; only their second this season; and one of only 5 wins at home in all formats this year.
Sam at the gate was surprised by the attendance. "Must be a couple of hundred inside," he chirped as a small throng, but one with a bounce, trickled through the main ground entrance. It felt like a momentous victory was at hand and one had to be there to witness such a thrilling event.
17 balls later it happened. Jack Taylor had his off stump flattened by one of Mags specials and the 200 crowd erupted with joy. Sussex had won a home championship match and by an innings and 2 runs with 24 points in the bag; although, the sobering up occurs when the side still lie 6th in Division 2 on 131 points - a far cry from being 3rd in Division 1 in 2014 with 210.
An elderly lady appeared in the Pavilion, laden with tupperware, thermos flask, a seat cushion, binoculars and wearing a hand-crotched summer's hat. She was set for the day oblivious to the events around her. As she sat down the wicket fell. As the other Members got up to leave, our dear lady was getting herself comfortable; peering through her binoculars at the pitch - presumably waiting for the next batsman to emerge. It was down to a caring and understanding passer-by to tell her the news. "Oh!" she replied. "Oh dear, I had no idea!"
But you understood her dilemma. All you wanted to do was remain at the ground for the whole day. Soaking up the sun and enjoying any last vestige of joy and ebullience of a home victory, not knowing if another opportunity may arrive.
