Is Shahzad injured? Or has he just been banished to outer darkness for bad attitude, a la Matt Coles? Last seen in the CC side seven or eight weeks ago. Has he been playing for the seconds? Is he even still at Hove or has he been sent home to his mum in Yorkshire?
And what happened to Davis's claim that Ollie Robinson was being kept for the run-in? Is his shin problem proving more serious than was originally diagnosed (now fancy that, can't think of any precendents),is he being left out because Garton and Archer are better bowlers or is he also getting the Coles treatment (like Shahzad he has previous, of course, and was sacked by Yorkshire over disciplinary issues).
No mention of either of them in the injured list - or of Hatchett, whose season is also over according to the gossip at Hove (allegedly due to a Tymal Mills-type congenital condition?)
With the exception of Jordan, the seamers Robinson signed over the last few years - Amjad, Miller, Piolet, Mills, Shahzad, Robinson - have turned out to be almost invisible and have played very little four day cricket. Bad luck? Bad judgement? Or, in the cases of Shahzad and Ollie, is it simply that Davis doesn't have Robinson's man-management skills in handling feisty characters?
I've no idea. But let's hope that Archer follows Jordan's example rather than that of the others, who have turned out to be a very rum lot indeed...

I've just read that England have made Cook available for Essex's top of the table clashes with Leics and Worcs : www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/37157718I'd say that makes Essex almost certainties to hold on to their top spot and secure promotion.

And although 53 extras were conceded, 28 were the result of loose bowling wides and no balls. Nick Wilton only conceded 12 byes in 162 overs

All of the Second division visiting sides have opted to take the award of putting the home side in, and so have Warwickshire and Notts in the First division.
So far this year in toss award games the results have been: Home wins 15%, Away wins 20%, Draws 65%.
When the toss has taken place this becomes Home wins 26%, Away wins 18%, Draws 53%.
So if a draw won't do you any good and you need to stake everything on a win, wouldn'y you go for the option that gives the best chance of a result?

Live stream of the match on the Glamorgan site incase any of you aren't aware of it . This is fabulous. Great quality pic, even when boosted to full-screen. Why don't Sussex do this? It's obviously the future - by the 2018 season I predict every CC match will be on live streaming. Be good for Sussex to place themselves in the vanguard and be the second county to implement it and not the last. Just watched Rudolph gift his wicket to a not particualry threaterning bouncer from Jofra!

Jofra looks very medium pace on the live stream - much slower than he looked when he was running down the slope at Hove v Glos. The ball after he got Rudolph he bowled another inocuous-looking bouncer that Lloyd hooked for six...

Notts did last year, and state on their website: Will you show live matches?
Sky Sports own the rights to broadcast live matches although counties are entitled to stream match action from their venues from a fixed camera when their match has not been selected for a Sky broadcast.
However, the current "stream" on the Notts website is a glorified version of the cricinfo service - textual ball by ball updates and a grraphical scoreboard effect. I seem to remember at the start of the season reading that, despite what Notts still show, that Sky had twisted the ECB's arm somehow and they had stopped most counties from doing this. I will research and report.

The report I read www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2016/04/29/ecb-tells-counties-to-stop-twitter-broadcasts-to-avoid-sky-sport/ related to Tweeting live videostreams and there was an objection raised and a suggestion that counties might rebel. I have seen nothing since - maybe another question to ask at the Members Forum?

Thanks pipster - great stuff! The primary thing lacking are replays. Excellent start for Sussex. Let's hope the team have learnt how to be ruthless and don't allow Glamorgan back into the match.

Trust s&f to complain about no replays. Ask for your money back Chris! This is obviously the future. Two counties already streaming all home CC matches (no clash there with Sky!). The fixed camera costs nothing and they take the commentary from the BBC local radio feed so that doesn't eat up any budget, either. Although I'm sure Jim May will object because he expects everyone to pay full whack on the gate, just like he objected to LV Insurance dishing out free tickets to their customers. I predict by 2018 all CC matches will be on live streaming and we will wonder how we ever did without it. It will just be a shame if Sussex are the last to join the party, and only do so reluctantly, kicking and screaming about not wanting to give live cricket away for free..
