If Sussex beat Glam and Leics beat Essex, the difference between the two counties could by Friday be down to little more than 20 points, Would probably need to maximise batting pts here - 220 needs at 5 runs per over. The current run rate leaves us below 300 at 110 overs.

Sussex having a game in hand plus a game still to play... against Essex. We've finished with Essex for the season - two draws. Essex play Worcester and Glamorgan at home and Kent away. A downpour in Kent at the last game would do us no harm if (and it's a big if) we are in contention.

It is on days like this that I am glad I have two monitors on my computer as I can watch both England and Sussex at the same time.
Also CJ is not playing for England...

Ho-hum, the middle order collapse occurs again. 4 wickets go in 11 runs, 3 in this present over and now Wagg is on a hatrick with Brown to face. Graham Wagg could well achieve it! Meanwhile, Luke Wright's form has fallen off Beachy Head. 232-2 now 243-6. And why is Davis still being given opportunities? He's not ready yet. The team's mental resolve is shot to pieces after showing flashes of improvement pre-lunch. This post-lunch batting collapse won't help the mental cause at all. It really has been painful being a Sussex supporter this season.

It's all in the mind. Yorks are mentally tough. Sussex are mentally fragile.
Sussex get into good positions and blow them. Yorkshire get into terrible positions but pull their coals out of the fire.
Little more than 24 hours ago, Yorks were 51-6. The are now 300 ahead with eight wkts left in their second innings and will set Notts a target of 400.
Little more than 24 hours ago Sussex had Glamorgan rocking at 56-5. Earlier this morning they were 180-1 and looking to set up a 200 lead. Now they will be lucky to get a first-innings lead of more than 30-40...
The only comforting thought is that Notts capitulation has been far worse than Sussex's!

If the Sussex team took this colour mental test, they would be lucky to gain 4 out of 10. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLAp3PMDIQYI would invest club money on a grouping of mental coaches including a hypnotherapist, neuro-linguistic programmer, hypno-analyst, and an army Sergeant Major barking out orders (the one from 'It Ain't Half Hot'). Then send the players out to the wilderness with nothing but the clothing they wear. That should strengthen them up a bit! www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y2WIOa7CEIPS: I believe there is a grouping of the Inner Circle attending the match headed by former CEO, Dave Brooks, and Sussex Chairman, Jim May. I wonder what they must be feeling right now. Perhaps, they should ask their opera singer mate, Nick Gee, to sing a rendition of 'I Will Survive'. GOSBTS wouldn't really sound right. Oh damn it! Just play the side these 45 songs when on the team bus. spinditty.com/playlists/15-Songs-to-Overcome-Challenges-WithNow Ben Brown goes. One could have bet £100 on it given the side's present mental collapse. The demise now is 5 wickets for 20 runs. Adrian Harms keeps repeating, "I can't believe it!" Nash goes 6 runs short of his 1,000 runs. Sums up this afternoon farce. The one bright light amongst the gloom. 6 wickets for 26 runs. The damage this is doing to the already damaged mentality of the side is not worth thinking about.

I think I'm right in saying Sussex lost wickets in the penultimate over last night, the last over before lunch and the last over before tea?
Is it a coincidence to lose wickets five minutes away from every scheduled break in the innings?
Also worth noting that Glam's last five wkts put on 196. Having gone from 232-2 to 258-8, Sussex's last five will put on...25 if we're lucky?

Probably thinking 'I hope that bloke in the badly soiled eight-year old Thornely top changes his underwear more often than he changes his shirt...'

Essex bear out your point, now leading Leicester by almost 100 runs after being 68-5.

Crikey these collapses, how many times is this going to happen. We have a rock solid top three, but the middle order have struggled again this season, even at this level. No surprise that we are looking to bring in a couple of batsmen this winter. If Joyce goes, we'll need to make that three

Who would have thought at lunch yesterday that we might lose this game?

Who would have thought at lunch yesterday that we might lose this game? At the moment I'd say that a draw looks the most likely option with these on and off showers continuing today. Tomorrow Glamorgan would have to push hard to build a strong lead and I think that the pitch will not help them score very quickly. I'd guess Glamorgan all out 300 mid-afternoon tomorrow and a 5 pm handshake.

Garton has bowled only 4 overs so far in the second innings (of a total of 45). Is he OK, do we know?
