I didn't say I wanted a 'has been or never will be on loan', that would clearly be of no point at all, if I have to say the players I don't want then I don't want any crap players too, nor ginger players , no players under 5 foot 6 , no one over 34 etc My point was was obvious , we need some players better and more experienced than we already have at our disposal for the run in. By all accounts we are looking at signing a new middle order for next year, well we could do with getting them now, if at all possible . If not then a couple of decent players from the top of division 1 teams who are not playing at the moment will will help us no end for the last few games . It's not the time to blood reserve team players, Davis has just proved this surely . The pressure of chasing a title is tough enough for regular first teamers, let alone inexperienced ones .

And what did Garton prove? It works both ways when you're talking about inexperience in this case fella. The only difference being Davis has more experience, of failure, and being released by an ordinary county. Garton is up and coming, like H-P and Salt.
So I couldn't disagree more mate. You may not want has-beens or never will-bes but that is what you will get. We could well need a top quality top order bat but you ain't gonna get him in late August, unless he replaces Wiese, which he shouldn't.
What you got against old ginger midgets?

We're not talking about bowlers , we are talking about middle order batsman. No one has pushed our young bowlers getting in the team more than me this year, I even spoke to the coach twice about it letting him know my frustration as sticking with Shahzad when Whittingham and Garton were available. We are talking about playing inexperienced batters . You can play inexperienced bowlers , they can keep making mistakes and still keep bowling and find some rythmn, that's exactly what happened to Garton in this game. Batsman can make one mistake and be out and playing inexperienced batters at this time is not going to achieve anything apart from potentially ruining their careers . Davis may potentially never get another shot, yet he should never have played those 2 games , he was thrown in under the pressure of a promotion hunt at the back end of the season. He made two nervous mistakes in the game and scored hardly any runs. If we blood our young reserve team batters now I'm championship cricket we could do more harm than good .

I don't like Dobell much, but that is an excellent article in which he examines a wide variety of issues, most notably selection and support .... is 800 really their biggest gate? My view .... and I am sticking to it...... Oh .... and isn't it good that Sussex won a cricket match. Borderman hates GD and he likes to bring that hate on here at every opportunity. It's clearly a well written, varied piece that asks some interesting and pertinent questions. Although most notably for me is the point about Leics's fake success and anti home-grown stop gap plan which will, as pointed out, cause problems with longevity at the club. One home grown player is an utter disgrace and should not be allowed. Just like their five or so overseas players. Ready-made average journeymen bums who hinder the development of young English cricketers should not be welcome. Two legitimate overseas players on the other hand...
Two on the bounce then. Could have gone either way and I believe it's too late for a charge that will result in promotion but good to do some winning never the less. Brown gets a ton in the last game, fails in his next innings and gets slated by S&F, then sees us home from a very tricky situation in the next innings, super stuff. Well done Brown and well done Garton too - two quick breakthrough wickets to turn the game and then sees it out with Brown too.
We do not need two ordinary has-beens or never will-bes to turn up on loan Pipster. Learn from the mistakes of the past. If Finch and Machan are not fit we need to throw in H-P and Salt for Davis and Joyce. Trust them.

Players like eskinazin of Middlesex , averages 50 in championship cricket but can't get in their team at the moment . Umeed of Warwickshire,a hugely promising player who started the campaign in front of Chopra , I saw him make 90 odd the other week in a reserve game at Edgbaston and he was superb. Players like this, who big counties will want to loan out to gain more experience in a blossoming career .

We're not talking about bowlers or batters Pipster, we're talking about players. You can't say Davis proves young players are flops when Garton excels in the same game. If we have a batsman of similar mentality to Garton then he will succeed. And if you can potentially ruin the career of any player by playing him he needs to go sooner rather than later.
As for Eskinazin, or any other young batter who has been dropped from the actual team, won't they be busy curled up in a corner shaking in the aftermath of being dropped? We have what we have, use it.
