Unfortunately I can. Who was the prized plonker that extended his contract with a year still to run? Hudson-Prentice and Salt are only young what is Cachopa's excuse ? dear oh dear, is this true ? Another season of failures , it's painful watching . How the hell did someone extend his contract ? Tell me you are joking ? Sadly they did. The timing of it smacked of Brexit as there were certainly no cricketing reasons at the time, and there still isn't, for extending his contract when it still had time to run.

Not disagreeing with you guys, but maybe his position as reserve/white ball wicketkeeper is behind the decision?

So there are two issues to consider here: Why did we dispense with a promising bat and wicket-keeper who had been developed by the Academy and had first-class experience from 2013? What has happened to Cachopa, personally or professionally, to cause a slump from a rising star averaging 50 with the bat in first-class cricket in New Zealand, and scoring 4 50s in his first 5 games for Sussex, to the point where he has been dropped by Wellington, is barely respectable in second eleven cricket, and lasted 11 balls in 2 innings for 0 runs?

I don't know HH and I imagine that you are right that his contract seems tied to his reserve wicketkeeper position. Do we not think though that hiring a proper batting coach could probably help solve this slump? A player that can average 50 in FC cricket and played very well in his first season surely has a lot of talent. I get the feeling we aren't doing very much to help him.

I am not intending to make a scapegoat of him but the decline is so very marked, and from such a promising base. If someone is capable of turning it around they need to do so quickly, otherwise it would be better to let him go and try elsewhere.

Someone must have identified why he's declined so quickly, surely?
