Proper cricket returns to Hove on Sunday.
How many on the injured list will be fit for this one?
No updates coming from the club on Machan, Wells, Magoffin, Robinson or Brown yet. Machan has been playing in the Sussex League so presumably he's able to hold a bat and Brown is probably still a week or two away from playing after his broken digit. I can't even guess on the others but do wonder whether we'll see Magoffin play for Sussex again given his age and the complex recovery from any sort of knee injury to fast bowlers, I hope I'm wrong.
Philander returns for this one.

As per normal looks light on the batting front. Not sure if that's light or I don't have the confidence for a heavy score from the top order, lets hope I'm proved wrong. Shame about Mags. Good weather forecast so a nice full day ahead I hope. Hope Finch continues from Friday, enjoyed seeing him notch the 50 in Friday's game. Hope Sussex get decent support tomorrow.

Coverpoint's side for me. Though I suspect Sussex will stick with Finch opening and Wells at three, rightly or wrongly. This side is stronger in bat and ball compared to Joe's I believe, proper batsman at six, bats deeper, four strongest bowlers with Nash and Wells covering the spin option. That bit may not be ideal but we don't have a decent spinner in the squad to argue the point.
That side looks strong and should be a match for anyone. I doubt there's a better seam attack in either division so if we can keep those four together for a while our fortunes must surely change. Three of them also bat. Can't say the same for our batting unfortunately.
Come on Joe, this is the best team isn't it?

Possibly but I don't think Magoffin or Wells will play purely because of coming back from injury and Finch deserves his spot. I also think Briggs will play because he's the best we've got and it allows us to tie up an end and rotate the quicks. We'll soon see!

Evans, Magoffin and Rawlins miss out. Evans ( hamstring ) Magoffin ( knee ) What is the point of including players in the squad when they are known to be injured/unfit?

A timely change of bowling there. Well done Wright for trying it and Briggs for getting the wicket. Now lets get the rest out by tea.

What started as a good position at lunch has deteriorated into a dismal fielding performance and a great escape by Durham. Sussex digging their tunnel for them. A feeling of inevitable despair pervades the ground.
