Robinson missing will hurt Sussex. Maybe the England selectors have asked for him to be rested. Salisbury speaks well about his workload, but I would have hoped that this could be managed while playing. Now the rest have to step up. Time for Meaker and Garton to lead the way; followed by Crocombe and Atkins. Sarro's 1 month rookie must be as cover. Last chance saloon in 4 day cricket for Delray; if required he has to occupy the crease for a significant period. Have no doubt Lancs will want to stuff us; there should be verbals, especially after the first match away. Great learning curve for the new Sussex pros. Re Delray, think you're right. Last Chance saloon indeed. He didn't do well last season and has started this one badly, with almost everyone else chipping in when needed.
Personally think George Garton should go up the order, with Delray going in further down.

While Salt is missing and presumably going in at No 4 when he returns, why not put Rawlins at 4 as the pinch-hitter? I think Garton is a natural No 7, the all-rounder spot.

Frustrating coverage. Only 1 camera at the sea end. Another example of unprofessional amateur media coverage. Get it sorted Andrew!!

Run rate slowed down after lunch but steady progress. Time for Delray to show up after tea.

Gave it away!!🤦♂️🙄[/qruote] If only, if only. Delray continues to promise so much and not deliver. 42 off 64 balls in 55 mins isn't bad. But the way he got out was poor. One thing he has to sort out is his body language. The slow trudge back to the changing rooms was awful; and says it all. The Sussex management must be able to see this. Rawlins needs some professional help with mindset and focus. Please get him some counselling.

If you hit the ball in the air there’s a good chance you’ll be caught. Why Delray trudged off looking hard done by I don’t know, poor shot.
However 3 batting points is more than I thought we’d get against this bowling group so I’m happy.
318/7 and a chance to get a 4th batting point with Garton still there.

Felt like Delray was more disappointed with the shot than anything else. Both him and Stiaan had batted beautifully but s*** balls get wickets!
Enjoying the start to this season, hopefully they can get a few more runs in the morning and bowl well. We need Meaker to step up and lead the youngsters this week.

It is free mate, i agree it could be better but i think we are incredibly lucky to have any coverage at all. Why? Did you wake up today in 2007? Other counties have very good live stream, so ours should be. It didn't work for me at all a minute ago. I'll try again when they're actually playing. A pinch hitter Joe? A pinch hitter? Did you wake up today in 1997? I've never heard of a pinch hitter in the longer form, or at four in any form. A pinch hitter is some wafting bowler coming up to open or bat at three in a 90s one day team, man. Rawlins' problem is that he's trying to introduce pinch hitting at six to the longer form. It ain't working. Done alright today until he started pinch hitting. Good day, probably. Let's see if Brown finally opens with the left arm swing bowler. Baffles me that one. Well done again young Haines. Shows you should stick with lads of 20/21 to see if they prosper. He could have gone the same way as Hudson-Prentice, discarded at 21 without a fair crack. 4-30 odd today for Derbyshire.
