What do we think here? Reckon they have a number of runs or a number of overs in mind? J good question. I hope we dangle a small carrot to Worcester. Maybe bat for an hour tomorrow morning and see where we are. I have a feeling we will bowl better with the new ball tomorrow; and we have a good array of backup bowlers. Looking set for a really good final day. What has been good so far is that all batters have contributed over the 2 innings. We can win this.

Quite evenly poised after Day 2. We used 8 of our 9 bowling options! Here’s hoping we bat well enough tomorrow to set a stretching but feasible target to set up an exciting final day. Looks like I’ve been granted my wish. I just hope we don’t bat too long and end up with another tame draw. It’s been a really good contest that deserves a positive outcome. I’m not that fussed whether or not we get promoted this season because I’m not sure we’re quite ready for it yet but I’m very pleased to see us competing in every championship game.

I heard that Orr was out for 8-12 weeks.
A good last hour in an otherwise poor day.
I'm sorry but i really cant agree it was a poor day. Yes we may not have got the wickets but i thought the bowlers stuck to the task well on a very flat wicket. Sometimes you have to give credit to the batters and that Libby knock was one of the best you'll see. The spirit from the lads all day was superb, always being noisy and backing each other up. You get days like this but it certainly wasn't a poor performance. You must accept conceding 191 runs off 33 overs is poor is it not?
One thing for sure if we don't dismiss libby, Azhar and Hose cheaply we could still be in trouble.
However, the massive positive today was the fact that Haines, Clark, Alsop, Hudson-Prentice and Carson all scored fifties.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sussex bat as long as possible tomorrow to eliminate any chance of Worcestershire winning the game.
One small request to Alsop please put a fielder at THIRD MAN! How often does the ball go down there compared to fine leg?

No i cant accept it's poor, it is very much part of the journey CC Cricket can take you on, counter attacking when your opponent is tired is fine offence. Farbs has spoken so many times about taking the positive option, I dont mind if we get bowled out for whatever I want to get in to them as soon as possible. We'd win more often than not with this attack.

We will not get promoted unless we start taking 20 wickets in a match. Our batting is fine but our bowling needs improvement.
In terms of positive will we declare with a lead of 350 and go for the win or bat on for a lead of over 400 and settle for a draw?

It's not untrue as evidenced by the amount of overs lost so far this season. The positive option would be to declare overnight, Ben Stokes would. Risk losing to win a game you'll get rewarded more often than not in the modern game.

We declare on 447/7 which leaves them to get 386 in 79 overs which is roughly 5 an over.
Brilliant captains knock from Alsop who carries his bat.

Cricket is meant to be an entertainment. We’ve had too many games petering out into anticlimactic draws already. That’s not the way to get people watching the game.

I thought it was a good sporting declaration. We’ll need to bowl well but all 3 results still possible.

No sign of McAndrew yet although he is on the field.
I hope we bowl Coles more this innings.

I take it McAndrew is injured which is a big concern.

Worcestershire in control now. If wickets don't fall, they win. If wickets do fall, they'll bat out a draw. Our only hope is another rush of wickets like their first innings (and our second) or they get close enough to be tempted to chase the last 50. Bookmakers are no mugs. Worcestershire 2/5, Sussex 9/4. Good chance for a killing for the optimists.
