Rumoured to be going to Lancs. Why would he do that? Is the money that much better? It's a real shame if he goes; something special is cooking at Sussex. Wouldn't he want to be part of it?

Father from Manchester, supports Man City, grew up not that far away, playing for Manchester in the Hundred - he does have strong ties to the area & Alex Davies signed for Warwickshire a couple of days ago. Hopefully it is just rumours.

With a hard hatting batsman in Alex Davies having just left Lancashire for Warwickshire I can certainly see why they would be interested. It would be a massive shame if he leaves as I believe with Ibrahim, Lenham, Coles, Atkins, Carter, Crocombe, Hunt, Sarro, Carson, Clark, Orr, Ward and Haines all aged 22 or under the future at Sussex look very bright and in five years time we could have a very competitive side.
As a test match county Lancashire have very deep pockets and so would be able to offer a lot more than a tiny county like Sussex (especially given we have 31 players which will eat into to the budget). How much of the budget goes on T20 only players like Mills and Bopara? Is that the best use of a limited playing budget? I would rather see a Sussex squad of say 22 with players capable of playing all three formats and two overseas players of the calibre of Goodwin and Mushtaq and the performances to go with them rather than the mediocrity we have had from Head, Khan, Wiese and Van Zyl. What do we keep persevering with Claydon and Meaker?
