No surprise. In terms of his Sussex future, he signed a three-year contract extension in feb 2020. Presumably that extension ran 2021-23. He has his England contract but players still have deals with their counties. So that could well be it for Ollie and Sussex. Wouldn’t be surprised if he signed for a London club. Does feel like the relationship between Sussex and Robinson is at a low ebb (familiar story) so he might be on his way out, as you say. Not much demand for centrally contracted players though, especially ones with fitness problems. If he leaves he shouldn’t be judged on the past year or so. He carried our attack for season after season. A wicket-hungry work horse. I doubt we would have won half the games we have since he arrived, without him in the team. Who knows, maybe he will sign a new deal.

I don’t think we owe him much and visa-versa.

So last week Farbrace said he wants two or three more established players to join, in addition to Lamb and Wright. Today this was put to Jon Filby who initially sounded surprised and then only just stopped short of totally ruling it out. Sounds like there could be some fruity discussions over the next few months. Some other headlines if you missed it - Lenham staying, Robinson offered year extension (although he is primarily contracted to England], Archer likely to extend deal. He loves Sussex apparently, and never wants to leave!

Other players Filby commented on were Hunt who he said they are backing, he’s young and will come good (currently playing for the 2nd XI where he’s bowled 7 over with 16 no balls)
Also Haines, Clark, Alsop, Orr and Carter who are all part of the future of the club as are FHP and Karvelas.
Recruitment and development is being overseen by the cricket committee who are Farbrace, Ian Gould and Chris Adams.

So is Ollie back at Sussex now bowling in the nets? Did JF say if he is playing again for Sussex this season?

Strange he isn’t at least back at the club using the gym or doing something. Jofra is regularly at the ground. The Surrey centrally contracted players like Pope who is currently injured is often seen at the Oval doing rehab work. Maybe Ollie has fallen out with Step Dad Paul and wants to move on.

Don't see anything in Hunt (we have released far better players in the past).
I would add Coles and Crocombe as both have signed three year contracts this season.

I see Ollie Robinson was at the PGA Pro-Am yesterday caddying for his new girlfriend. It’s a funny old world when Sussex seem unaware whether he will be returning any time soon, especially given the Paul Farbrace family relationship. It does lead one to conclude that, for whatever reason, he is moving elsewhere.

Filby suggested a year extension is on the table.

So Paul doesn’t ask his wife, how the children are ? Think he does. In his capacity as Sussex coach he doesn’t disclose the family conversation.

The thing is people are seeing him at a golf event then making massive assumptions hes not interested and then run with it. He may well not be bothered but given his disciplinary record and a lot of baggage i dont think counties iwll be queueing up to sign him.

Is it possible for a player to be centrally contracted but not contracted to a county?
