Unfortunately the batting success hasn’t yet been carried over into his bowling but then it is absurd, in the modern game, that players are expected to drop in and perform immediately at Test match level when they haven’t played cricket for months. He actually bowled very well, i recon most of the runs scored off of him were edges through slip i can think of at least 16.

He’s being crucified in the media, even McCullum who never criticises anyone has said he had a bad game. His latest podcast has been taken down after he revealed some things the England camp didn’t want made public (such as the England team having a private jet back from their break in Abu Dhabi) He’s also the only player who’s girlfriend/wife travelled with the team.
Seems to me he doesn’t help himself sometimes and needs to try to keep a low profile.
He’ll definitely not play in the final Test.

I too have been amazed by the criticism. Others like Atherton and Hussain have also piled in. It seems Ollie has been made a scapegoat for England’s loss. Poor guy. His batting in the first innings has no relevance. As I’ve said before Ollie has a rebellious streak about him and this doesn’t fit in with the cricket establishment. Only the very special players get away with it and he is not special enough… yet. With his recent injuries, Ollie still has much to prove.
I am not clear where his England future lies.

Have to agree with Ryan Sidebottom. Thrusting a bowler straight into a Test match (especially overseas) when he last played in July is setting him up to fail.

There have been a lot of ‘naughty boys’ in English cricket, Flintoff, Botham etc who didn’t conform but they were the best players in their day. Unfortunately Ollie hasn’t reached those heights yet so his indiscretions can't be forgiven so readily if he has a bad game.
I’m sure his weight of wickets will ensure he returns to the England team but hopefully we see more of him till he does. He is head and shoulders above any other bowler in our squad and, in my opinion, is crucial for our attempt at promotion.

Yeah not a bad attack Seales, Robinson and Karvelas.
The thing is, tweets aside, has he really done anything that bad away from the game to deserve this?

As predicted, dropped for the final Test.

Ollie should tell England that he needs to focus on Sussex for the red ball and T20. Would be great for Sussex. Bad luck for England. He needs to play cricket.

He needs to play cricket. i agree, he needs an arm round the shoulder type management at the moment. Ive had multiple chats with him (probably annoying him) while hes walking his dog around hove park and he is a genuinely nice guy. I think it may have been Gloucester away he bowled himself into the ground last year all to try and win us a game, i struggle when i read people doubting his commitment but i think thats down to a bigger issue of comms coming out of the club!

Unfortunately he appears to be increasingly injury prone. This time last year we were looking forward to seeing Robinson, Archer and Garton bowling for Sussex. All 3 suffered further injuries. Now Garton is gone and the prospects aren’t looking great for either Robinson or Archer again. Do hope I’m wrong.
